Happy World Fish Migration Day!

Today, the World Fish Migration Foundation released the second edition of their book, From Sea to Source: Protection and restoration of fish migration in rivers worldwide. Read more →

From the World Fish Migration Foundation: "[...]Our ambition is to contribute in a positive way to making a better world and a positive difference for migratory fish, nature and humans on local and global levels by inspiring new initiatives for and with people all around the world. With the release of the 2018 ‘From Sea to Source 2.0’ we show how rivers are a critical natural resource that sustain us all and support livelihoods, health and wellbeing. Approximately 40% of all fish species in the world reside in freshwater ecosystems, contributing economic and ecological benefits and value."

Music & Fish Night
This Monday, April 23 — 6 pm

Join us this Monday at Jones River Landing (55 Landing Road, Kingston, MA) for an evening of music, food, and fish talk as we celebrate Earth Day and World Fish Migration Day. Doors open at 6:00 PM.

The event is free, but donations are suggested and potluck contributions welcomed! (If you have something in mind, you can let us know at info@jonesriver.org.

Jones River Herring Count
Volunteers needed NOW through June 2

We've seen a few, but we need you!

We are calling on our dedicated counters to return and for new volunteers to join us in this important year – if you've got at least 10 minutes to spare before June 2nd, you can be part of the effort! (Training will be provided.)

  • Email us at fish@jonesriver.org. Give us your name, contact info, and the time slots you can commit to, and we'll add you to the schedule.
  • Call us at (781) 585-2322. If you miss us, leave a message with your name, contact info, and the time slots you can commit to.
  • Stop by the Jones River Landing to sign up on the master sign-up sheet. We will have it available on the front porch 24/7.
