NDPC events in Saint-Petersburg within the framework
of the 9th Northern Dimension Forum

 
NDPC annual workshop “Creativity, Innovation, Heritage, Museums – New Approaches, New Tools, New Experiences” took place on April 4 at the Danish Cultural Institute. The workshop focused on creative use of new technologies and innovative applications in facilitating accessibility of culture, particularly heritage and museums. Participants discussed how traditional cultural values can be made more accessible and attractive via usage of new digital solutions, as well as how to work with audiences and educate them in new conditions of consumption of culture. The good examples of success and challenges to creators and institutions were shared by Russian and foreign experts. The following day, on April 5, a Round Table “Creative Industries: Innovative Solutions for Public Sector” was co-organised by NDPC within the 9th ND Forum. Russian and foreign experts shared their experiences and cases when culture and creative industries contribute to the development of public sector services, including museums and educational institutions. NDPC Steering Committee meeting
 
29th NDPC Steering Committee meeting took place on March 5 in Helsinki at the Ministry of Culture and Education of Finland. The meeting was led by the 2018 Chair Country - Finland. The meeting adopted the Action Plan and Budget of 2018. The meeting concluded that six NDPC countries were ready to sign the Agreement on Establishment of NDPC International Secretariat: Finland, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Russian Federation and Sweden. The main issues for discussion were: time and place of signature of the Agreement; legal and administrative issues in relation to establishment of the Secretariat; NDPC Future Forum to be organised by the Northern Dimension Institute along with Future Fora for other three ND partnerships; and other events and activities of 2018.

NDPC also took part at the EUSBSR PA Culture and Creative Sectors Steering Group meeting and Strategic Project Development Workshop on March 7-9 in Gdansk at the Baltic Sea Culture Centre.

Creativity week radi!2018 kicks off in Latvia

With an opening event at the Latvian National Museum of Art, Creativity week announced its activities for the eighth year in Latvia. The aim of radi! is to raise awareness and interest of the development and interaction of creative and cultural sectors, actively involving people in different ways of creation, thinking and doing activities. This year radi! is planned as a series of seven events, with the majority to be held in different regions of Latvia, organized by radi! team with involvement of experienced foreign experts. In the events, creative and design thinking methods will be used to address the local challenges of the regions and their inhabitants, bringing together representatives from different sectors, professions and institutions and together generating solutions to these challenges essential to end users. radi!2018 is managed by Creativity Lab in Latvia and supported by the Ministry of Culture of Latvia with NDPC as a strategic partner amongst others.
 

CCI events in the region

The 9th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) will take place on June 4 and 5 in Tallinn, Estonia. The main theme of the Forum is "the Baltic Sea region after 2020": how to improve the implementation of the EUSBSR in the framework of the future EU Cohesion Policy. It will also discuss the current state of the ecosystem in the Baltic Sea as well as how to advance the region as a global digital hub.

Baltic Development Forum’s 20th Annual Summit will be held on June 4 in Tallinn, Estonia. This year, it will ask the question: “is it time for a BSR 2.0?”. The Forum will focus on the political developments inside and outside of the Baltic Sea Region, as well as on the Region's economic development through a 20-year perspective.




 
Online investor pitching course for creative businesses

The online course, lead by creative and cultural sectors expert Ragnar Sill, aims to share some key tricks and recommendations on how to prepare a memorable and effective presentation or pitch in order to find investors, present a product and service to customers, or attract people to one's cause. Good pitching skills are crucial for anyone, especially for start-ups or organisations looking to grow and develop. The online course was developed within EU-Eastern Partnership Culture and Creativity Programme 2015-2018, funded by the European Union.

 
Upcoming calls of the Nordic Culture Point's administered Nordic-Baltic Mobility programme:
 
Mobility funding for travel and stay of professional artists or cultural workers within Nordic and/or Baltic countries. Application period: 
23.07.2018 – 22.08.2018;

Culture and Art Programme supports Nordic cooperation within art and culture. You can apply for funding for a project with artistic and/or cultural quality which promotes a multifaceted and sustainable Nordic region. Application period: 20.08.2018 – 20.09.2018;

Short-term network funding enables periods for cooperation, exchange of ideas and knowledge between professional artists and cultural workers in the Nordic region and/or Baltic countries and areas. Application period: 27.08.2018 – 27.09.2018.


Social media toolkit for cultural managers

ENCATC - The European Network on Cultural Management and Policy has issued a social media toolkit for cultural managers. The aim of the toolkit is to teach cultural managers the best usage of social media and to make social media less exhausting. The publication also deals with audience development and gives examples of how data can be processed to achieve an even greater understanding of a particular audience.
