Summer is in the air! Trail running around Mont Blanc on one of our trips last year.

A new season, and a new look for Tracks and Trails

What an amazing winter of cross-country skiing! As we enter the blooming month of May the cross country ski areas around Europe are closing their tracks, but we are already planning your next winter adventure. Lindsay is just back from discovering a new 135km ski route across Norway for 2019 and we’ve already updated next seasons trip dates and prices.

Long distance journeys are also the theme for two of our Blogs – one from Tania who has just skied over 2,000km the length of Norway, and another from Vicki who having recovered from cancer has just run the London Marathan at 60. We also look ahead to summer with ‘10 Reasons to go Hiking’ this year. All inspirational reading to fire you up for a summer of fresh air and fitness. To top all of that we are soon to launch our new website to mark our 12th Anniversary at Tracks and Trails.

New for winter 2019: the fabulous Hallingdal Track!

The Hallingdal Track, our brand new trip for winter 2019.

What a stunning route, 135 km of cross country skiing through the heart of the Norwegian mountains. The Hallingdal Track, to the east of the famous Hardangervidda, is one of the lesser known long distance ski routes, but it's a cracker! We saw a grand total of four other skiers on the whole route, can you imagine how wonderful it felt to be out there in the wilderness and feeling as though you had the mountains to yourself. Such tranquility and solitude, and searing blue skies. Having just returned from our 'recce' trip I can't wait to get back there next winter to see how you like the latest addition to our ski portfolio. Read the full article.

Cancer, the marathon and me!

Vicki Perry running the New York City Marathon.

Vicki Perry, holder of two British senior marathon records and seasoned runner, writes about being a cancer survivor and living life to the full. "One day I was fit, healthy and happy the next day I had cancer which is indiscriminating and the outcome often uncertain. From that point on I was determined to make the most of life and not spend time doing things that I didn’t want to do. Life is too short!!!" Read the full article.

A winter alone on my skis: Norge På langs 2018

Tania Noakes celebrating the end of her solo odyssey at Nordkapp.

Tania Noakes, friend and one of our regular Nordic Ski Teachers reflects on her recently completed 82 day, 2500km S-N traverse of Norway. "It has been less than two weeks since I took my skis off for the final time at Nordkapp on completion of my solo ski journey the length of Norway. The immediate rush of emotions and elation that energised me that day has subsided into a deep sense of contentment." Read the full article.
