I’ve always thought it fascinating that my paternal grandfather sat as a boy at the feet of Ellen G. White and listened to her stories. Ellen White, who lived nearby, visited the Wilsons’ ranch home near Healdsburg, California, in the early 1900s. My grandfather, Nathaniel C. Wilson, and his three brothers eagerly gathered around her chair to listen as she lovingly told them stories.

But those visits aren’t the only reason our family has fond memories of Ellen White. We owe our knowledge of the Advent message to her direct practical and prophetic evangelistic activity. My great-grandparents, William and Isabella, immigrated to the United States from Ireland around 1870, eventually becoming fruit and cattle ranchers and owners of...[read more]

2nd Quarter: Preparation for the End Time

This quarter the focus is on the end time, but not totally. The real focus is on Jesus, but in the context of the last days and how to be prepared for them. Yes, we need to look at historical dates, at world events, at history itself, because the Bible talks about them in relation to the end. But even in this context, the Bible talks about Jesus, about who He is, what He has done for us, what He does in us, and what He will do when He does return. Christ and Him crucified must be the center of our faith; or, as Paul said: “For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1 Cor. 2:2, NKJV). There’s no better preparation for the end then that focus, and that’s for sure.

Youth Outreach

The Bellville Youth did some great outreach work last Sabbath at the St. Josephs Home for Chronically Ill Children. They were very grateful for your donations. This will be an ongoing project for the rest of the year. Please continue to pray for our youth and to support them with your donations. A box is available in the foyer. Click here for items in need.

Here at Bellville, we value the ministry of returning a faithful tithe and offering to the Lord. In the Seventh-day Adventist Church, tithe money does not stay within the local congregation but is redistributed across the global network of Churches for the furthering of the Gospel mission. Our church also collects local offerings and uses them to support our congregation’s ministries directly through our Church budget. Thank you for your support of the global mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church as you tithe, as well as your support of our local church ministry budget through your offerings.

When returning Tithes & Offering or donations via electronic banking, please use your name and contact number as a reference. Then email your proof of deposit with a clear breakdown of your offering, to the Church Treasurer, Linda Adonis at bellville.treasury@gmail.com.

The Personal Ministries Department has launched a Bellville Church Bible School, which is a branch of, and works in partnership with, the Voice of Prophecy (VOP) Bible Correspondence School, based in Cape Town and also affiliated with the VOP Headquarters in the USA.

The Goals Are: 1. To connect people with Jesus and help them become His disciples. 2. To acquaint people with an in-depth understanding of the Bible and the Seventh-day Adventist message. 3. To show people how the Bible meets their daily needs. 4. To prepare a community for evangelistic reaping meetings.

The Aim is to reach as many church members as possible. Our district target for VOP is 65. If you haven't registered yet, please speak to Lynn Moyo (Personal Ministries Leader).

If you have shown interest but have not yet returned your VOP card, then you are kindly reminded to please hand them back to Lynn, in order for you to receive your first set of lessons.

These Bible Guides/Lessons will help you find the answers to your questions and bring new meaning and purpose to your life. Each Guide is absolutely free for you to study in the privacy of your own home. Included with each Guide is an Answer Sheet for you to fill out and to be handed back to Lynn, who is also the coordinator for the Bellville Bible School. It will be returned to you along with your next set of Bible Guides.
Membership Matters
Your membership at Bellville Adventist Church matters to us. We need to ensure that our Church Membership Records are up to date and accurate. This year, we have made it easier for you to update your details. Simply click here to submit your information. Info slips were handed a few weeks ago for members to complete their basic information - we kindly request that you return this form to the Church Clerk.

The communication department is willing to provide assistance to members who do not have internet access and to enable them to complete their details online at church. On Sabbath 28 April, Godwin Bruinders will be available to assist members from 10h30 to 11h00 - see him upstairs in the boardroom.

For further inquiries, please speak to the Church Clerks, Varina Coetzee or Abigail Schereka-Dreyer.

Tell the World is an inspiring production about the Seventh-day Adventist Movement. This hollywood style film was launched globally on 22 October 2016.

Bellville Adventist Church was proud to be part of the global launch by hosting the screening of the film on Sabbath afternoon of 22 October 2016. We have had church members coming from far and near to watch the movie. This date also served as the anniversary of the Great Disappointment, as a way of drawing attention not only to the film, but more importantly, its message. As we know, it was on 22 October 1844 that many who were a part of the Advent Movement were greatly disappointed when Christ did not return as they had predicted.

Based on true events, Tell The World shares the compelling story of a small group of farmers from the northeast region of the United States. They set the foundation of an organization that has been at the forefront of issues such as health, education, communication and Biblical interpretation.

We encourage anyone who has not yet seen the film to view it as soon as they can, with the hope that the film will inspire us to do more research on the history of our church and to share it with our children, so that they will have a better understanding and even greater appreciation for our past as well as our future.
