400 athletes ready for this historic Canarian triathlon

All SET FOR THE XXXIV VOLCANO TRIATHLON THIS SATURDAY

Lanzarote is preparing to host the 34th edition of Spain's oldest international triathlon, the Volcano Triathlon, on Saturday 28th April.  This event brings together great champions and age groups in Lanzarote in springtime. Club La Santa, will host an event that is very popular among triathlon lovers and that has seen great figures of this sport.
In this edition there will be 400 participants attending the event, which will have to overcome the classic three segments of the event. The 1.5-kilometer swim, that runs through the saltwater lagoon of the La Santa club. The second 40 km cycling segment, which runs along the road that goes to Famara, passing by Caleta Caballo and Soo, which will require two laps. Finally, the third segment of the 10-kilometre foot race, by a circuit that goes to the town of La Santa, and which will have to be done several times.

Information for the public and participants
For the public and participants, it will be easy to get to Club La Santa from Tinajo. But while the race lasts, the roads from Club La Santa to Caleta Caballo, Soo and Famara will be closed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. until the last runner passes by. The organization has sent the corresponding notice to the residents of these towns of the closure, thanking in advance for the understanding and patience of vehicle drivers and especially the great work and collaboration of the volunteers, who will help to provide all the necessary information on the road, thus supporting the security forces. There is no doubt that the public will enjoy this event. 

Presence of Alice Hector and Emilio Aguayo 
The winner of the last two editions of the Volcano, British Alice Hector, triathlete of the Evo Tri Club team (England) and second place on the Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote 2017, Spain's Emilio Aguayo, have confirmed their presence.
Among the 400 participants will be many from mainland Spain, from other islands of the Canary archipelago and many others mainland Europe, all attracted by the fame of an event that has gained prestige in the sport of triathlon. It should also be remembered that the Volcano Triathlon is the prelude to the Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote that is held a month later.

Program
On Friday 27th, participants will pick up their bibs at the Plaza, Club La Santa, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.  At 17.00 the press conference will be held in the south conference room at Club La Santa. From 18.30 to 21.30 h. the Pasta Party will be held at the Atlantic Restaurant of Club La Santa with an open invitation for all participants. At 19.00 h. will be the technical meeting in the Plaza, Club La Santa.

Saturday 28th April, the day of the event, from 8.00 to 09.30 participants will check-in bicycles and equipment for the race on foot and by bike at the Club La Santa stadium. At 10.00 h. it will be the beginning of the swimming for the individual male participants in the lagoon of the club La Santa. 10.05 Start of swimming for individual female and relay participants. At 20.30 the awards ceremony will be held at the Plaza (Club La Santa).
