Where do you live: Atlanta, Georgia
What is the title of your session?
Day Hiking the Appalachian Trail and Exploring nearby Appalachian Communities
-The surprises and gems you will find
What is your favorite part about being outdoors? The stillness and beauty of nature and the feeling of harmony evoked by the cascading streams, the birds singing, and the trees, plants, and flowers whispering their secrets. There is never a day in the outdoors when I don't discover one of the veiled treasures of nature.
Do you have a favorite hike or adventure? The Len Foote Inn Trail with an overnight at the Len Foote Inn. It is a wonderful hike to take with friends, especially friends new to hiking.
What is your never-leave-home-without piece of gear? a map and compass for the hike I plan to take.
What encouragement would you give to a woman that is new to the outdoors or nervous about getting out there? Find a friend or a local hiking group and take a walk in a nearby park. Take one day at a time and stop to look at the trees, flowers, and creatures. Listen to the stillness of your heart and soul as the wind blows through your hair or the sun touches your face. Feel the peace of being outdoors. Enjoy.
And what will YOU be bringing to the Summit that no one else will??
My book! This year I have been proud to see the culmination of so much hard work! My book, "The Appalachian Trail Day Hikers Guide: Downhill to Fine Wine and Accommodations" was published! I am proud to be signing books at this years Summit
