Pharmacy Changes in WA
We wish to inform you that as of the 30th April 2018, chemo@home in WA is transitioning to a new Pharmacy partner. Our new Pharmacy partner is located on the University of Western Australia campus, and is called Bayview Health - Matilda Bay Pharmacy. We have changed our Pharmacy partner to assist us in developing new professional pharmacy services for patients with cancer and chronic illness, to undertake research with the University and to become more involved in teaching the next generation of pharmacists.
The change will not impact either the continuity or cost of treatment. Below are some minor changes which we wish to highlight:
Pharmacy co-payments
If there is currently a co-payment raised with treatment, this will not change. The convenience of online credit card payment will be available, through an invoice link.
Reminders
Reminders for a new prescription will continue to be sent out with the nurse administering treatment, when required.
High cost medications
Improved invoicing for high cost medications with the convenience of online credit card payment will be available, through an invoice link.
Compassionate access medications
These will continue to be supplied under the new arrangements e.g. bevacizumab (Avastin®), infliximab (Remicade®).
Private Health Insurance
Where applicable “bundled” co-payments and subsidies for high cost medications will be reimbursed under private health insurance, the same as they are currently.
We have made every effort to ensure the transition goes smoothly. If, however, there are any difficulties please contact the Bayview Health – Matilda Bay Pharmacy, and the pharmacy team will assist in resolving the issue.
