Rental Affordability Snapshot Released

Anglicare Australia released its Rental Affordability Snapshot. The snapshot has highlighted that in Australia only 3 properties are affordable for a single person on Newstart across the country.

The snapshot has also highlighted that in the Greater Sydney area less than 1% of rentals are affordable for people on low incomes and only 4.6% of rentals are affordable for a couple with two kids on the minimum wage.

The Everybody’s Home Campaign has partnered with Anglicare Australia to get some action from the Federal Government on this issue and it would be great if you and your supporters could circulate and sign the petition calling for 500,000 affordable homes.

PLEASE SIGN AND CIRCULATE THE PETITION

Unlock Potential and Make a Difference through Mentoring!

Mid Coast Communities is proud to partner with YWCA NSW in delivering the Youth Frontiers youth mentoring program in 2018.

We are seeking people from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, who have a few hours to spare each week, and would be interested in mentoring a student (aged 12 to 16 years) from the Port Macquarie, Wauchope or Kempsey areas. No experience necessary as training and support is provided.
Your role as a mentor will be to support the student to learn the skills and gain the confidence to plan and deliver a unique community engagement project of their choice.  Most mentoring will take place in a school setting and will be a mix of both group and one-on-one sessions.

As a mentor you have the opportunity to make a positive difference in a young person's life so if you think you have what it takes, or know of someone, please enquire by clicking here.

You can also contact Sharnie Cooper on 0427 370 448 or youthfrontiers@midcc.org.au

Network Meeting

Monday 7 May 2018 | 11:30am - 1:30pm | Coffs Ex-Services Club

The topic for the next meeting is 'How does making art in a group impact relationships?'

People who are socially marginalised are more likely to experience isolation, loneliness, fewer relationships, and often less connection to their communities. This is particularly true of neurodivergent (atypical brain functioning) populations. This presentation by Emma Gentle is on research recently carried out in the Nambucca Valley that explores the impact of art-making on neurodivergent regional populations.

Refreshments provided. Register here!
