JIPS - Joint IDP Profiling Service
Dear Colleague,

Mid-way into
2018 that marks the 20th anniversary of the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement, we are getting involved in the collective effort to prevent and resolve internal displacement and protect IDPs and displacement-affected communities. We are also continuing to work on bringing local authorities to the centre of urban crisis response, and exchanging with partners on effective ways of assessing and analysing the needs of affected populations.

We've been equally busy on the field, taking part in an analysis project on urban areas in Syria. Also, make sure you take a few minutes to read the findings and impact of the profiling exercise in Rakhine State, Myanmar.

There's a lot of news you don't want to lose, so don't forget to confirm your subscription to keep receiving our updates, in compliance with the new EU Data Protection Law!

On behalf of the JIPS team,

Spotlight on ... GP20 Plan of Action
GP20
Twenty years after the creation of the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement, the GP20 initiative launched a collaborative Plan of Action to reinforce the multi-stakeholder engagement to protect IDPs and prevent and resolve internal displacement.

As part of the Steering Group, we welcome the initiative with its focus on national-level action, and are particularly thrilled by the main priorities around which the Plan of Action will revolve:
  1. participation of IDPs;
  2. national laws and policies addressing internal displacement;
  3. data and analysis on internal displacement; and
  4. addressing protracted displacement and facilitating durable solutions.
