This month, the Library presents the end of semester De-Stress Yourself event. It will be held inside the Library in room 221 and outside on the lawn. See more details inside this issue.

Did you know that former President Barack Obama visited the Largo campus? His first appearance was as a Senator running for the White House. He also visited the campus twice while in office.

If you’ve ever wondered about all the great programs at the Library, then there’s no better person to ask than our very own Outreach Librarian Julie Seigel, who is our featured LLR employee for this month.
Bookends: Tell us a little about yourself.
JS: I’ve been at the college for seven years. I started as an adjunct and now work full-time as the Outreach Librarian. I have a background in bookmaking and typography. I enjoy reading and travel. I’m responsible for events and am excited about the Destress event this Wednesday.
B: When did you know you wanted to work in a library?
JS: It was a gradual process. I’ve always enjoyed collecting. I have a collection of pulp fiction, artists’ books, and zines. I used to focus on books as art since I enjoy bookmaking. Some of my friends recommended that I look into library school and when I did, I instantly loved it.
B: What is your favorite part of working in a library?
JS: I love pairing people with information. I also love learning from patrons. Each day, you learn something from someone—whether it’s a new book or topic—that you wouldn’t necessarily normally connect with. I love connecting with people—students or faculty. I love the freedom to creative and try new and different things.
B: What are you currently reading?
JS: Six different books. I just finished Station 11 [Emily St. John Mandel], which I highly recommend. But now I’m reading Call Me By Your Name [André Aciman], Swing Time [Zadie Smith], The Wicked and the Divine [Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie], which is a graphic novel, Red Clocks [Leni Zumas], I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara, and Meaty, a collection of essays by Samantha Irby.
B: What’s your favorite book of all-time?
JS: Oh, I don’t have one! That’s an impossible question to answer.
