WorldSkills Conference 2018
Uniting for Youth: Building networks for innovative skills solutions

With three distinct tracks – Inspire, Develop, and Influence – WorldSkills Conference 2018 will  help you find solutions to the questions and challenges that you are facing. One of the main themes will be the Dutch system, based on the triple helix: an intertwining network of government, education, and industry. This approach ensures that skills are constantly brought to a next level, linking education to the latest developments in the world of work.

Speakers Spotlight

This month we are proud to introduce to you one of the keynote speakers, the world-renowned Ruud Veltenaar. With a background as a philosopher, professional speaker, and trend watcher, he will speak about future trends and the development of skills, VET, labour markets, and how to prepare for jobs that do not yet exist.

Ruud used to work as chairman of a venture capital fund and as an executive for companies like McKinsey, Volmac, RAET, and Planet Internet. As a professional speaker he travels the world giving lectures about megatrends and developments with impact, and how leaders, managers and entrepreneurs can anticipate these trends with the aim of making the best possible decisions. Decisions that will make a difference and create a better world.

CEO NSO Meeting

Following a successful meeting in January 2018 in Shanghai, China, the CEOs of the National Skills Organizations (CEO NSO) working group decided to host the next meeting to coincide with the General Assembly.

The CEO NSO working group is comprised of CEOs, Executives, Director Generals, or Leads of Skills Organizations from the WorldSkills Member countries and regions. Their role is to share best practices, develop new collaborative initiatives and tools, and to raise points and issues for recommendation to the WorldSkills Board of Directors. A detailed agenda for the meeting in October will be distributed at a later date. Please see the WorldSkills Forums for ongoing discussions between meetings.

The meeting will be held in Amsterdam, Netherlands on Friday, October 19 from 10:00 to 15:00. A light lunch and coffee will be provided for all attendees.

If you have any questions about the CEO NSO working group, or to confirm your attendance, please email Alex Musial, alex.musial@worldskills.org

Amsterdam is the capital city of The Netherlands. It is famous for its 17th-century Canal Ring – a UNESCO World Heritage site – and for being a major hub of industry.
