Quick Paint - May 6

Plein Air KC comes to Roanoke Park...
5:00-7:00 pm, May 6th, THIS Sunday!

Watch the artists create and enjoy the food truck and live music!

Plein Air KC is a fantastic event organized by and benefitting the Penn Valley Park Conservancy. And now for the first time, one of their "Quick Paints" will be held in Roanoke Park!

Sunday, May 6th will be a family-friendly day in Roanoke Park where patrons can come and watch over 70 artists transform blank canvases into beautiful works of art depicting Roanoke Park. Monk's Roast Beef will be serving food from their food truck throughout the evening for artists and patrons to enjoy. Come hungry!!!

The first horn will blow at 5:00 pm and artists will have until 7:00 pm to create and finish their masterpieces. Patrick Saunders Fine Arts will judge the Quick Paint immediately after.

Live music will also be performed in the park throughout the evening by the Max Levy Trio! Musicians include: Max Levy (saxophone), Peter Martin (guitar), and Seth Lee (bass). We invite you to grab a picnic blanket, a lawn chair or just yourself and join the fun in Roanoke Park on May 6th! This is a free event and open to the public. We hope to see you there!

If you can't wait to get into the art groove, the kickoff Quick Paint is 7:30 pm tonight in Union Station backed by the music of Hard@Play. See the full schedule of events at pleinairkc.com/spectators/.

Invite your friends! See either the Roanoke Park Quick Paint event on Facebook, or Roanoke Park Quick Paint-Plein Air KC on EventBrite.

Spring Cleanup was a success.

About 28 neighbors came out to remove invasive bush honeysuckle and pick up litter. Thanks park fans!

Large piles of invasive bush honeysuckle was cut from the south meadow slope below Valentine Rd. Many other neighbors picked up several bags of litter from the slopes of the park. The parks department came to pick up the brush piles the following Monday. A week after the cleanup, park naturalist Chris DeLong put down a mix of native seed in the formerly honeysuckle dominated areas and will repeat that next fall.

See our Facebook page for a gallery of photos from the Spring Cleanup.

Anytime is the right time to pick up litter as you walk through the park. We know of several neighbors who make this part of their routine. THANK YOU to Roanoke Park's great neighbors and fans.
