From the

Headmistress
Dear Parents,

As I write my contribution for this week's newsletter, I am listening to the sound of children singing in their house assemblies, preparing for next Friday's Inter-house music festival and "House Shout".  How lucky we all are to be surrounded by happy children enjoying their music making this morning.  Singing is also known to improve alertness, concentration and memory.  So we look forward to a fruitful morning's work!

I hope you all enjoy the bank holiday weekend.  It would help us all enormously at school if you could find a little time to check that all your child's uniform is clearly marked.  Now we are able to enjoy the field, it is inevitable that blazers and jumpers are left around the grounds at the end of break.  It would be so much quicker to return lost items if they are clearly marked. School PE jackets need to be left on school pegs so that we can go out to play when there is light drizzle.  Hats and coats must be worn every day with school blazers.  Thank you for your support.  We want to encourage a sense of pride in our school uniform and how we present ourselves at school every day.

Enjoy the long weekend.

Kind regards
Mrs Korcz
Headmistress

Sports Kit

Now that the summer has arrived, we are hoping to have our traditional British Summer weather for our PE lessons this term. We have already experienced some of that weather in the form of persistent rain and cold winds. It is vital that the children are able to still perform outside in all weathers and so need to have their blue fleece jacket for all PE lessons (to use at breaks and lunchtimes as well). Please continue to ensure that all kit is clearly labelled - I currently have two fleece jackets that are lost and un named so cannot easily be returned.

Another item of PE kit which should be packed for school is the school base ball cap. This is vital for keeping the sun out of the eyes - or more realistically, the rain off our heads.
Class and group photos

Please could all of the senior band, main band, rock band, sax group, string group and recorder group members, bring in their instruments on this day, for use in the group photos. Thank you.
Lost Property

We have a selection of jumpers, shorts, trousers, a pair of shoes, a woollen hat, a pair of gloves and some other bits and pieces, all unclaimed and unnamed.  If you think you may have lost any of these items then please call in at the school office.

Thank you
Looking after our teeth!

Looking After Our Teeth With a Little Help!

On Friday morning 27th April 2018 all the children in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a fun and practical session learning about how to look after their teeth. The oral health educator Jessica (and her amusing puppet Chompy- the monkey with a perfect set of white teeth!) was extremely friendly and went through food that was healthy and not good for our teeth. I think it was a lesson for all the adults in the room too!   She then talked about how long the children should clean their teeth for and the children all received a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a 2 minute timer to take home. They were all very motivated to start cleaning their teeth properly after the visit. Jessica commented after the sessions how’ knowledgeable and polite’ all our children were! Well done everyone it was great to have such super feedback about our children!

Year 2
Liverpool v Roma and a very special mascot!!

We would like to make a special mention to a very famous and lucky member of class two. Thomas and his father went to the Liverpool V Roma game last week and was chosen to walk on the pitch with Mo Salah. Thomas and his father are huge fans of Liverpool football club and this truly is a huge honour. We are very proud of Thomas as he looks very professional (he looks like one of the team!). Thomas had an incredible evening, an experience that will remain with him for the rest of his life. These experiences are priceless and powerful as they aid in the holistic development in order to create well rounded individuals as they make their transition into the adult world.

I am very jealous!

FOSSILS

What are fossils? How do they form? What are some kinds of fossils? These are the questions second graders have been studying. They also learned how scientists study about dinosaurs, plants and animals from fossils. Last week second graders took the place of scientists and created their own fossil with an imprint on a rock. They put in action what they had been reading and learning during science lessons. They really had fun being scientists and learning that fossils help us to learn how extinct animals looked, ate and moved. Moreover, students proved that fossils are left from plants and animals that lived long ago. Some fossils are imprints of small plants while others are the bones of huge animals, but all of them are very interesting. No doubt second graders enjoyed coming to the Science lab a lot!
