From the Desk of the Executive Director

A few days ago, we sent our 2017 Annual Report and 2018 Plan to our subscribers. Thank you to all who have taken the time to read it. If you haven't yet, please consider doing so as I think you'll find it contains interesting details about our accomplishments, challenges, and exciting future plans.

In May, there are several days that serve both as great opportunities to remind ourselves of how fortunate we are and as calls-to-action for sharing a small slice of our good fortune with those who suffer daily due to where they happened to have been be born:

For Mother's Day on May 13th, and International Day to End Obstetric Fistula on May 23rd, consider honoring a mother in your life by donating to Fistula Foundation and helping transform the life of a woman suffering from this devastating childbirth injury or Population Services International to support women around the world in having access to family planning. May 28 is World Hunger Day. We have multiple charities on our list that provide crucial micronutrients to vulnerable populations, as well as organizations that run programs proven to improve food security. See our Hunger & Nutrition and Agriculture and Farming pages.

The Charity Voices articles below highlight just a few of the ways our recommended charities are improving life for the extreme poor every day. With the daily onslaught of terrible news, it is refreshing and inspiring to read of and support such positive interventions.

Jobs at One for the World

One for the World (OFTW), a university-based partner of The Life You Can Save, is still an entirely volunteer organization. However, with the success that we've seen in fundraising during the past 12 months, we have decided to start hiring full time staff to help run the organization at the national level. To that end, we are looking for a Director of Operations.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
We are seeking a passionate and highly capable candidate to lead our operations. They will report directly to the CEO and have significant exposure to the Advisory Board. Key responsibilities would include 1) chapter management, 2) marketing and communications, 3) new school expansion and 4) other operations input.
