Weekly Meeting

Please join us for our next weekly gathering, taking place this Sunday, May 6th, for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street. Keith Gawronski-McNinch will be bell minding.
Fresh Moment

"When we recognize that we have a habit of replaying old events and reacting to new events as if they were the old ones, we can begin to notice when that habit energy comes up. We can then gently remind ourselves that we have another choice. We can look at the moment as it is, a fresh moment, and leave the past for a time when we can look at it compassionately."

Next Weekend

Regional Retreat

Several of us will take part in the regional retreat next weekend with the monks and nuns of Blue Cliff Monastery (bluecliffmonastery.org) organized by our sister sangha, Ottawa Pagoda Sangha (pagodasangha.org) at Galilee Center in Arnprior, May 10th - 13th. We send gratitude to the monastics and our friends in Ottawa, for all the work they have put into the coming weekend, and wish safe and peaceful travel to the monastics on their cross-Canadian tour this month, and all who are traveling to participate.

Car Pool to Arnprior

Dale Fainstat asks for participants in next weekend's retreat at Galilee Center in Arnprior, Ontario, to contact her if you are interested in car pooling. If you are attending and are planning to drive, or want to connect with others who are, email Dale at dfainstat@hotmail.com.
Seeds of Compassion

"Whether we have happiness or not depends on the seeds in our consciousness. If our seeds of compassion, understanding, and love are strong, those qualities will be able to manifest in us. If the seeds of anger, hostility and sadness in us are strong, then we will experience much suffering. To understand someone, we have to be aware of the quality of the seeds in his consciousness. And we need to remember that his is not solely responsible for those seeds. His ancestors, parents, and society are co-responsible for the quality of the seeds in his consciousness. When we understand this, we are able to feel compassion for that person. With understanding and love, we will know how to water our own beautiful seeds and those of others, and we will recognize seeds of suffering and find ways to transform them."

Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
