Tasting Today- Domaine La Suffrene Rose 'Vin du Var'

Domaine La Suffrene is a family winery in the coveted Bandol appellation of Provence in the South of France. Originally the Gravier family farmed their vines for several generations to supply fruit to the local co-operative, until Cedric took over in 1996 when he set up his own winery from scratch.  Here is a 5-minute video of the natural beauty and winemaking ethos of La Suffrene. We met with Cedric and his team in July, and started importing his wines into New Zealand.

Tasting Note
Made from a blend of old Carignan vines (over 50 years old) as well as Grenache and Cinsault from vineyards in the 'Var' Region of Provence meticulously cared for and harvested by hand. A portion fermented with carbonic maceration to maximise fruit aromas and flavours.

Pale salmon in colour, aromas of nectarine, red cherry and basil. Dry on the palate, fresh with flavours of tangy cranberry and dried raspberries and a pleasing savoury saltiness on the finish.  Taste the last of the summer sunshine for $21.25 per bottle.
