Announcements

1 - Elections -  The results are in.  Bruce Hochberger will announce the results.

2 - Show and Tell - bring your projects, completed or in-progress, to present and discuss with the group. If there is sufficient interest in a project, a clinic can be scheduled for a future meeting.

3- Just a short wrap up on the LEDs.  Bob will bring samples of several form factors.  I'll have some samples of the NeoPixels highlighted in the Oklahoma club video linked below.

Last Month

A number of items were discussed. Topics for both Show and Tell, and Clinics were suggested. More layout tours were high on the list. Several other proposed topics are in the column to the left. If you have additional ideas please email them to Bob Albano omahaterminalrr@gmail.com.

We also discussed a few ideas for recruiting and outreach. Bob is going to discuss this further with a smaller group and bring the results back to the full meeting. Contact him if you would like to participate.

George S. presented an overview of the use of LEDs, the NCE Light-it and Illuminator boards and briefly talked about getting started with Arduino micro-controllers. If you would like to see a list of references or download the presentation slides, click here.

Fun Stuff - NeoPixels

This video from an Oklahoma Club popped up in my feed shortly after the last meeting.  It's a great overview on NeoPixels. These are a special type of LED that is extremely versatile.  The catch is you need to drive them with an Arduino or Raspberry Pi, and they are a bit bigger than regular LEDs. So, they are more useful for scenic and structure applications than for rolling stock or locomotives. I'll bring a couple of examples to a future show and tell.

See you next time, gs
