Latest news

Dear <<First Name>>

Good morning. I confess I am quite hesitant about writing this Newsletter, particularly as it comes so soon after my April edition. In the past I have only written one when I thought I had news that people who read my hunting articles and books would definitely be interested in. This Newsletter is a bit of a mixed bag as you will find out if you read on.

CUSTODIANS OF PROFESSIONAL HUNTING AND CONSERVATION (CPHC)

I want to write about the new organisation, Custodians of Professional Hunting and Conservation (CPHC) (which has effectively replaced PHASA, the Professional Hunting Association of South Africa), for those who oppose captive bred lion killing, canned killing, put and take killing and the domestication, manipulation and intensive breeding of once wild animals to produce those with exaggerated horn lengths and unnatural colour variations ...

CREATIVITY EXPLAINED BY DAVID PRIILAID

Since my last giant eland hunt in Cameroon last year, a number of you have asked me what I am doing with my time now that I have stopped hunting and writing books and magazine articles about hunting and conservation. So I thought I would take a chance and tell you. One of the main things that has occupied a lot of my time has been the publication of a book by Peter Flack Productions, namely, Creativity Explained by Professor David Priilaid. ORDER NOW

I celebrated my 70th birthday on Saturday and to say I was spoilt is an understatement. People came from as far afield as the UK, the USA and all over the RSA. There was much laughter, warmth and happiness in the room and I was made to feel very special indeed. So much so that the “glow” carried over to the next day and has not entirely dissipated. It was good to see so many hunters having a good time together, including seven who I have taught myself. Among them my newly married Godson, Tyghe Carstens – who successfully hunted a springbok with me on foot and killed it with his first shot at the age of six - and his beautiful bride, Angie, who interrupted their honeymoon to be there.

While it is not true that age is just a number and only relevant if you are a cheese, there are definitely advantages that come with advancing years. As I said in my short speech, there are certain things that only age teaches you, for example, not to take a laxative and a sleeping pill on the same night. That sex is not the answer. Sex is the question. Yes, is the answer. That there is enough gun control. What we need is more idiot control. That worrying really works because 90% of the things I have worried about have never happened. That good health is merely the slowest possible way to die. And that the good Lord gave us men a brain and a penis but only sufficient blood supply to use one at a time!

Like all things, if you want to be good at old age, you need to start young!

Kind Regards
