Plans approved for new cruise liner terminal at Princes Dock

Liverpool’s world class Pier Head is set to receive a new cruise terminal, as part of a more than £100 million development plan, which should bring increased visitors to the city, as well as hundreds of new jobs.

Read our summary of the announcement, including planners’ statements over the new development’s expected impact on the World Heritage Site buffer zone, and air quality figures for the Waterfront.

City comes to life for Light Night

Friday 18th May marks the return of Light Night – an evening of everything from large-scale light projections and live music to workshops and spoken word, art, crafts and theatre, street performance, walking tours, dancing and late-opening exhibitions taking place right across the city centre.

Check the Light Night 2018 website for a full schedule.

Research spotlight: Sustainable residential communities

This month we were delighted to see local Geography student, Sophie Doyle, complete her dissertation on social, economic, and environmental sustainability, looking at Liverpool Waterfront’s City Quay development as a case study.

We’re grateful to Sophie and the University of Liverpool for letting us make her dissertation available on our website. It’s a very interesting read, and perfect for any Engage members who have an interest in how urban residential communities are designed, lived in, and maintained.

Event: Tall Ships Regatta

Friday 25th – Monday 28th May. This year, not only do we have 17 beautiful Tall Ships visiting Albert Dock and the Pier Head, but also a series of art, music, and theatre performances across the Waterfront as part of the “Changing Tide” programme of events, linking Liverpool, Dublin, and Bordeaux.

Read more about the festival weekend on the Culture Liverpool site.

Stay in the loop over roadworks

Every month, we gather information about roadworks and closures across the city centre and waterfront, into one place. Check now for closures near you.
