Welcome to the new Eco-Congregation Scotland Enews featuring the ten things you need to know about Eco-Congregation Scotland this month.

1. Report Of Our 2018 Annual Gathering




Our 2018 Annual Gathering and AGM took place on Saturday at Augustine United Church in Edinburgh. 105 people attended from as far away as Orkney and Leeds. Feedback from the event was very good and we would like to thank all the speakers, volunteers, the staff at Augustine and all those who participated.

2. Photo Competition Winners




We are pleased to announce the winners of our 2018 Photography Competition which was arranged as part of the run up to our Annual Gathering.

3. Sign A Petition To Introduce A Standardised Washable Glass Bottle




At our Annual Gathering on Saturday Wesley Paxton from Annan told us about a petition he is promoting to try and get a standardised refillable glass bottle. To find out more and sign the petition click the button below.

4. Updated Data Protection And Privacy Policies For Eco-congregation Scotland




Dear supporters, you will already be receiving emails from organisations you are connected with about changes to data protection laws in the UK which come into force in May (known as the General Data Protection Regulations). We have updated our policies on how we use your data and you can read them here.

5. Climate Action Workshops & Film Tour 2018




Over the next few months, Stop Climate Chaos Scotland will be out across Scotland with their members putting on Climate Action Workshops which you can get involved in!

7. Faith Leaders Call For A “strong And Ambitious” New Climate Change Bill.




The Moderator of the Church of Scotland Rev Dr Derek Browning, Catholic Bishop Joseph Toal and Mr Ameed Versace of the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society were among the faith leaders speaking at a special event held at the Dynamic Earth centre in Edinburgh this month.

Faith leaders are calling for “a net target of 100%” reduction in carbon emissions to be introduced in the new Scottish Climate Bill.

8. Spring Pack Now Available From Faith Action For Nature Project




Spring is finally here and with it come the brand new resources from the Faith Action for Nature project. The project is open to any congregation who wants to take part and anyone can download the resources for free.

9. St Andrews Church, Brussels Wins Silver Award




St. Andrew’s Church of Scotland in Brussels has won a silver Eco-Congregation award. This is the sixteenth award plaque we have sent out in the past four weeks.

10. Meet Your MP




This new  project from the Scottish Churches Parliamentary Office (SCPO) is called “Meet your MP”. It aims to build links between congregations and the 59 MPs that represent them across Scotland.

After the success of the ongoing Meet Your MSP project, Scottish MPs were enthusiastic about SCPO initiating a project that they could get involved in!
