Thame and District Rotary teams up with local businesses in support of good causes

Last year Thame and District Rotary met with some local business people to obtain their views on how they might work together in support of the community, the result was the creation of a “Business in the Community Programme”. The scheme involves volunteers from local businesses joining employees from other businesses, to undertake community projects, during company time. Rotary identifies projects through its links with local authorities, local charities and other similar organisations. The projects are generally of a practical nature requiring a different skill set to those used during the volunteer’s normal work. Read more
The companies who are supporting the scheme this year are Kubota Ltd, Lightfoots Solicitors, Lucy Electric Ltd, Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa, Richardsons Chartered Accountants and Waitrose.

Can Midsomer Murders help to build your business?

Did you know that 80% of the filming locations for the popular ITV series, Midsomer Murders, are in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, and the show is watched by millions in over 100 countries. Visitors from all over the world want to experience for themselves the beautiful towns and villages seen in the TV series. Midsomer visitors come to Thame with coach tours or as private tourists exploring the area, and there are weekly walking tours of the filming locations in Thame between April and October, but more could be done to develop the visitor experience.
Businesses directly engaging with the concept of Midsomer achieve quantifiable growth as a result. One example is Rumsey’s Chocolaterie in Thame, who introduced the Barnaby Bun to their menu a few years ago and have sold over 1700 Barnaby Buns in the last year alone. Read the full article to get some inspiration about how to introduce Midsomer into your business - the effect on your business could be murderously good!
