From one blood has he made all nations....
Acts 17:26

May 4, 2000… Arrived in Johannesburg early this morning, was met by Terence
Ngxongwa, and went directly to the house of Moonnyeen Lee who manages South Africa’s top acting talent. Caught a flight down to Cape Town at 4 pm… In need of sleep. Am staying in a cabana along Blouberg Beach. The film is happening! Pre-production work continues tomorrow. May God continue to guide us every step we take… Filming begins May 15...

The film in question was Final Solution and the words are from my journal entry of eighteen years ago! And now, guess what… Final Solution is soon to be re-released on high definition video with a new Dolby Surround mix, new scenes, new edits, and an updated ending. Take a look at our new trailer!
Trailer for the re-release of Final Solution
I took four survey trips to South Africa between 1993-1996 interviewing dozens of people in an effort to find just the right story to develop into a film that would show how – through the power of love and redemption – even the hardest among us can change. And then I met Gerrit Wolfaardt and Moses Moremi, the two main characters on whose lives Final Solution is based.

Apart from doing the film festival circuit and playing on television stations around the world, Final Solution had the distinction in 2003 of airing nationwide in South Africa on the Day of Reconciliation, a public holiday dedicated to fostering reconciliation and national unity. The estimated viewing audience was twenty million.

All well and good, but why re-release the film now? The answer is simple enough. We believe the message of reconciliation through Christ is more needed now than ever before – not just in South Africa, but in the USA, Europe, the Middle East and elsewhere.
We’ll keep you posted on the re-release strategy for Final Solution. In the meantime, please pray for us, and before you go, let me share another entry from my journal, this one written just a few days before principal photography began on May 15, 2000.

Thank you!

May 9, 2000 – Last night, I walked along Blouberg Beach under the stars and the thought came to me that every single person on this earth has a “spark”; an “energy”; a “soul”; a “light” in them that comes from God, the maker of the stars and the ocean and the earth. And as I walked along, I realized I must decide whether I will wholly allow myself to serve the Creator and be used by him as he wishes, or whether I will attempt to grasp and retain all I can for myself…

I looked across the way at Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela spent eighteen years in prison. Altogether, he spent twenty-seven years in captivity! Yet he seems to have not doubted that he would one day go free; he had faith that things would work out well.

I, too, have faith that things will work out well. Millions of people barely manage to stay alive, yet they have the “spark” of life; they have the imprint of God and the breath of God in their lives. This is what we all have in common.

I give you my life afresh, O Lord, as your life to direct and manage as you see fit. I am not my own, but have been bought with a price, the precious blood of Christ. Only he (Jesus) could have an excuse to be selfish. But rather than use his divinity to indulge his self-interest, he emptied himself of all claims and interests, and went to the cross to die in our place. I didn’t make myself. I choose to lay claim to nothing because every good gift comes from God. I choose to look at the stars from Blouberg Beach at night and thank God that I am his creation; that while I live I have the opportunity to shine in the darkness for him.

Aleluyah!
