Botany Department Chair,
Dr. Sue Harley,
has been reappointed to serve another term as chair.  Thanks for all of your hard work!


Botany Department Professor,
Dr. Barbara Wachocki,
will be on sabbatical during the Fall 2018 semester.  
Botany Department Assistant Professor,
Dr. Bridget Hilbig,
presented her research on soil microorganisms in urban agroecosystems at the "Ecology of Soil Microorganisms" conference in Helsinki this summer. The theme of this years ESM conference was "Digging Deeper". Four hundred scientist from across the world gathered in Helsinki, Finland for a week of presentations ranging from the ecology of single microorganisms to microbial community impact on ecosystem function.

Botany Department graduates
Jason Baker and Blake Wellard
published a research article in Systematic Botany the scientific journal of the American Society of Plant Taxonomists.  The article is entitled "Stephanomeria occultata (Asteraceae: Cichorieae), a New Species of Wirelettuce from Northern Utah, and a Key to all Perennial Wirelettuce".  To view the abstract click here.
