Dear Friends of Myer Farm Distillers:

Happy Sesquicentennial to Myer Farm! 150 years ago this month LeConte Myer (Joe and John's great grandfather) purchased 160 acres of land on Route 89 in Ovid, NY (Lot #12) and Myer Farm was born. In 1912 their grandfather, George Warren Myer bought that land and purchased an additional 130 adjacent acres in 1916. At that time the farm was a combination of chickens, cows, pigs along with orchards of peaches, pears and apples. In 1946, their father, LeConte Brewer Myer, purchased the farm and expanded the dairy, milking up to 40 cows while growing a surplus of grains and hay to sell to other area farmers. John Reid Myer purchased the Lot #12 farm in 1981 and continued to run the dairy for the first year of his ownership. He then transitioned to growing organic grains and continues that practice today. Myer Farm has grown to 670 acres of tillable land and with additional rented land John and his two full-time employees work just over 900 acres growing corn, soybeans, wheat, rye, barley, spelt, triticale and clover. About 10% of the organic grains (corn, wheat, rye and barley) grown on Myer Farm come to our distillery for production of our spirits.

Master Distiller Joe has been producing more vodka. He also bottled up more John Myer Bourbon Whiskey and has John Myer New York Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Rye Whiskey single barrel releases in the pike. Later this month he will be bottling, in both 750 ml and 375 ml, our Silver Medal award-winning Straight Rye Whiskey which will be available in our Tasting Room and for wholesale customers.

Myer Farm Distillers continues to look toward expanding our distribution. As you plan your spring and summer group outings to the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail be sure Myer Farm Distillers is on your list. If your group is 10+ people - please call in advance to make a reservation so we can ensure you and your party have a wonderful experience and we can accommodate your timing. All buses must contact the Tasting Room in advance to make a reservation (607-532-4800).

New Tasting Room hours open daily: 11 am to 6 pm - come on by and enjoy the spirit of the year 2018.

Cocktail of the Month

"Sesquicentennial"

Fill rocks glass with ice, add 1.50 oz John Myer Bourbon, add 1/4 oz triple sec, 3-4 dashes black walnut bitters, fill with cranberry juice, stir well and orange garnish. Enjoy and soak up some sunshine!

Thursday, May 3 - Be sure to swing by Auburn Liquor and Wines to sample some Myer Farm Distillers spirits - 3-6 pm.

Saturday, May 5 - Myer Farm Distillers will be returning to Rochester Cocktail Revival - 11am to 3pm, look for Master Distiller Joe and enjoys some spirits!

Wednesday, May 16 - We will be pouring at Libations for the Library a fun evening to raise support for the Ulysses Philomathic Library - good food, drinks and music! Being held again at Americana Vineyards from 6:30-9 pm.

Saturday, May 19 – Hey Ithaca friends be sure to stop by Northside Wine and Spirits between 2-5 pm to sample some yummy spirits.

Friday, May 25 - If you at near East Hill Plaza in Ithaca stop by Judd Falls Wines and Spirits to sample some Myer Farm Distillers spirits between 4-7 pm.

Saturday, September 15 - MYER FARM DISTILLERS 6th ANNIVERSARY PARTY - mark your calendar and plan to join us for a fun afternoon of music, food and of course some Specialty Cocktails!
