Coastal Studies Institute
2018 Summer Camps


A few openings remain for the 2018 Coastal Studies Institute Summer Camps.  REGISTER NOW!

The Coastal Studies Institute (CSI) will offer fourteen summer day camp experiences in 2018 for students 9 – 15 years old.  CSI camps combine STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) concepts with fun, hands-on activities to create an exciting, educational experience.  Students will have the opportunity to take part in a variety lab and field experiences including snorkeling, kayaking, collecting species data by seining, trawling and hook-and-line fishing, studying plankton in the lab, engineering ocean exploring equipment, and many other fun STEAM activities.  Camp begins at 9:00 am and ends at 3:30 at CSI campus on Roanoke Island.  All camps cost $250 except for Science and SCUBA, which is $375, and include t-shirts, water bottles and snacks.  Campers are required to bring a lunch to camp each day.  There are a variety of camp experiences that focus on everything from Art to SCUBA diving.  Join us for summer fun in an educational and exciting week-long camp!

June 11 – 15, 2018:  Exploring Estuaries Camp
 
June 18 – 22, 2018:  Marine Science Camp, and Surf and Science Camp (This camp is a collaboration with Jennette’s Pier and can be booked HERE)
 
June 25 - 29, 2018:  Science and SCUBA Camp*, and Shipwrecks Camp
 
July 2 – 6, 2018:  Exploring Estuaries Camp
 
July 9 – 13, 2018:  Marine Science Camp, and Surf and Science Camp (This camp is a collaboration with Jennette’s Pier and can be booked HERE)
 
July 16 -20, 2018:  Art and Science Camp
 
July 23 – 27, 2018:  Oceanography Camp
 
July 30 – August 3, 2018:  Art and Science Camp, Science and SCUBA Camp*
 
August 6 – 10, 2018:  Shipwreck Camp, and Surf and Science Camp (This camp is a collaboration with Jennette’s Pier and can be booked HERE)
 
*Science and SCUBA Camp is targeted at 12 – 15 year olds and requires additional medical information, online classroom work before camp and the passing of a swim test.  This camp is $375.  If students can complete all tasks they will earn a lifetime NAUI SCUBA certification.
