Amsterdam and Jena

Visiting Amsterdam during their King’s Day celebration was a treat. The streets were filled with orange-shirt-wearing-partiers, the cafes were smokey, and the bars were packed. The beauty of the canals and old architecture was everything we hoped for.

We had a special friend that took us under her wing to make sure we understood the in’s and out’s of the city and had a great time. She even threw in her near-front-row professional soccer league tickets as a bonus. We had a blast!

We headed to Jena, Germany on Monday via our 10-hour bus ride. It wasn’t that bad and, considering the price, a great way to get around Europe. Bloomberg just released this article on why Flixbus might change the way Americans look at traveling via bus as they have their eyes set on the US next.

We came to Jena to watch a basketball game that featured a player that I coached in junior college, Immanuel McElroy. It was a goal of mine before we set out on our travels to see Mac play in a game in Germany. It was like old times as he controlled both ends of the court and made a few big plays down the stretch to secure a victory for his team. Nikki and I had a 'ball' hanging out with the team after the game as they celebrated the end of their season.

We are now on our way to Prague and then Vienna over the next week. We are very excited to visit these historic cities.

This week’s podcast episode is about our travels in Vietnam and why you should add it to your travel bucket list.  We have now visited Vietnam on two different trips totaling over six weeks. We break down the reasons why we love visiting Da Nang, Saigon, Hanoi, and Nha Trang.

We then discuss accommodations, whether we will write a book or not, and that one trip that we disliked the most. Listen in as we take you on a ride through several parts of the world in this entertaining episode.

Nikki and I always love this weekend in the US with Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby! We hope you have a wonderful time celebrating!

Matt
