OCCC Newsletter - Long Weekend Training & V1 Super Series

Can you believe it's May!!! Over the next few weeks we have two OC6 regattas to prepare for and a V1 regatta to host! Please read the info below for all the latest news.

Nationals
19 & 20 May

Gav has sent out Teamer invites for Nationals. Nominations are due this Sunday and we have limited names in the book. We need to know who is available to race to nominate the crews so please accept or decline the invite ASAP.

The race program is here. All racing is on Saturday except for mixed long course on Sunday.

Unlike previous years, there will be no official after party at the Mooloolaba OCC clubhouse. This is not to say there won't be an 'unofficial' party somewhere so stay tuned!

V1 Super Series
Saturday 5 May Race 4 - Caloundra

Caloundra is hosting the 4th race of the V1 Super Series. Race program is here.

There will be no training on Saturday morning given all our available steerers will be helping with the regatta.

The following people will be helping on the day:

David K: lead boat
Steve Lil: jet ski (support boat)
Alana and Jo: BBQ and food stall
Marcia and Kim: time keeping
Heeni: registration
Dr Consti: first aid
Morten: parking director
Craig: equipment
Bec: photographer and general helper
Gav and Tracey: public relations

We are all meeting at 7am at Moffat Beach to set up.

First race starts at 10am, second race starts at 12pm and last race starts at 1pm.

Everything will wrap up at 3pm.

If you are available on the day, please come on down to give others a break or lend a hand.

Long Weekend Training: our usual Saturday session will be moved to Sunday at 6:45am for 7am.

Outrigger Whitsunday: Adam and Alison will be competing this weekend at Airlie Beach. Race program is here. We wish you all the very best!! Unleash the best!

Gold Coast Cup: Bernie and Bec competed in the 42km changes race last weekend. Bec raced with a Molokai crew called Team Fluther and Bernie raced with a Gold Coast crew. Results can be found here. Great day on the Broadwater! This is something we would love to do next year as Team Caloundra!

Race 5 Gold Coast: well done to our Senior Master Women and Master Men (plus Kim) who competed last Sunday. Everyone is working well together as a team and we had lots of positive feedback. Results can be found here.

Uniforms: hoodies and hats will be ready for collection next week.

Noosa Regatta: the last race of the season will be at Noosa on 9 June.

Race Canoes: we have just ordered a Tahitian Matahina OC6 and we are about to order a Roc. These canoes have been funded by government grants, RSL sponsorship and our own fundraising efforts. Thank you everyone for your efforts!! This is an amazing accomplishment.
