Topanga Creek Outpost
Saturdays - 8 AM - Shop Ride

We ride for about 2 1/2  hours every Saturday from the Outpost.  Always Fun. Always Hills.  Always a good crowd.  Show up early. We leave exactly at 8 AM.

The Topanga Art Walk is Sat. June 2 and Sunday June 3.    We are hosting a couple artists and encourage everyone to stop by.   If you have those days off you might want to visit all the galleries in Topanga.    Topanga Studio Tour 2018

Until we add another mechanic, repairs and all service is preferably by appointment.   For the near future, our service department is for current customers only.

Bicycle purchases are by appointment.
Part-Time Mechanic
Wanted.

It is a really good problem to have.  We are fortunate for an amazing customer base keeping us extremely busy.  Thank you.
Cool Stuff, People & Things at the Outpost
Darren Larkin is a frame builder and we have been working with him for another batch of frames based our original batch a few years ago.   After Darren built the frames and we took a look, he sent them to a couple artists who did amazing work given no direction other than a frame handed to them and asked to paint them. Our minds are blown away.   Stop and see for yourself.
Scott Verdekel is visiting from Texas and stopped by the shop to spend a day and catch up.  So much fun. Chris and Scott worked together in the early years and always have a lot of things to chat about.
__________
Waterford Build up.

About 10 years ago Christian purchased a Maverick from us and stopped down from Santa Barbara to have us get his Waterford going again.  So much fun.

COMPLETE BIKEPACKING
DEMOS READY FOR RENT
We have finally prepared a handful of demo bikes for bikepacking with all the gear as necessary and bags.  Complete set ups are available and the feed back from the first few takers is pretty good so far by chatting with them and seeing the photos.  We asked for a recap, so stay tuned to hear about Ben and Erik's trip through Utah in the next Dispatch if they have not already gone again on an adventure.
Rover not included in the demo / rental program.
New Bike Day
John with his new Rocky Mountain Solo.   A conversation with Kris Gross at the shop a while back and here is John with his new bike. Kris is the Rocky Mountain representative. We love Kris and John.
Oops.   We found some pictures on the camera with some New Bike Day Photos that never made it to print.   Better late than never.
Scott and his pup on New Bike Day from the "lost" film now found.   Scott is on the Salsa Horse thief.
Keith picked up a Long Haul Trucker.  This bike is so much fun.   Yeah for everyone who gets one and rides out for adventures
On the day that the Surly Bridge Club came out Ivana stopped by and the conversation moved to what bike would be good and the Bridge Club seemed like the answer.   Here is her bike.   Perfect.. Now,we want her to join us for UnPredict Your Wednesday!
UnPredicting a Wednesday........
Thomas visited from Germany and joined in on UnPredict Your Wednesday in the Angeles Crest National Forest for camping and a ride on Chilao.
Chris took a quick trip to Portland for Mother's Day and stopped in at Velo Cult, Gladys and Cycle PDX.
Gladys is owned and operated by a couple amazing women.   Leah and her mechanic are an inspiration.  In an career that is primarily dominated by men and an industry that is somewhat culturally stagnated, these two are breaking the mold.

Chris visited Gladys while he was in Portland with his mom and sister over the weekend and is still talking about how great it was.
We have a lot happening and belt making class was a total blast on Saturday. Apparently people do read the Dispatch.
Trevor being taught by Rogue Journeymen's Andrew.      Keep up to date on Rogue Journeymen through Instagram.

With Johnny Irions and Tim Bulhum in the shop we made sure our record player was in operation.
Johnny Irions and Tim Bulhum
We had such an amazing day.    Johnny Irion and Tim Bluhm visited as the release their latest album collaboration and we had the pleasure of their music at the Outpost.   Our building has been in the music world for a long time.    Our neighbor was Mama Cass from the Mama and Papa’s and one of the guys from Canned Heat.  Our building was used to play music and jam.  Over the years we have heard the Eagles, Doors and a whole slew of musicians have been creative inside Topanga Creek Outpost.     Johnny is the great nephew of John Steinbeck who used Blackwing Pencils.  We carry Blackwing and when they visited a while back we planned something like this jam session with Johnny and Tim.  It was a joy today and we are excited.
Here is a link to our new online shop.
Spring has sprung and the riding is amazing.  Our trails are in peak shape and things are on a roll.   Rogue Journeymen is a nice addition and it was terrific to explore Portland's bike world for a day plus have Scott V in the house.  So good.

Turns out that very few people read this far in a dispatch, or at least don't mention they read to the end and learned the secret phone number below.

Rarely published actual phone number.
Nobody reads this far anyway,
we might as well give it out.
(310) 455-1451

Perhaps it is time for a new sign.
