William "Bill" Gernert
November 28, 1930 — May 12, 2018
We are saddened to share that Bill Gernert, a longtime band alumnus, passed away on Saturday. Bill marched in the band during the late 1940s and early 1950s but remained active with the Pitt Band Alumni Association/Council for decades. He also assisted with Lou and the Ops Crew until 2013, when his health prevented him from continuing.
His obituary was published in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Wednesday.
