Thursday 17 May - Friday 25 May

GENERAL INFORMATION

Parents morning tea this Sunday
The Parents’ Association invite parents and caregivers to join them for a coffee at Georgia on Tennyson Cafe, 42 Tennyson Street, in Napier, this Sunday from 9.30am (if you are not attending the Cathedral service with your daughter/s). This is an informal get together and everyone is welcome.

Festival of Cultures and International Week
Next week promises to be a huge celebration of our global village. We are participating in the annual International Languages Week, which is observed nationally each year, as well as running our very own Festival of Cultures on Friday 25 May. Students are asked to dress up in international costume and will be enjoying a wide range of activities throughout the day, as well as food sampling from various cultures.  Throughout the week there will be all sorts of activities promoting various languages and cultures for the girls to get involved with, including researching their own cultural heritage. The Education Perfect World Championship in Languages is also starting on 21 May, where students are asked to compete in a vocabulary competition world-wide in various languages.

Homestays wanted
Each year Woodford House welcomes wonderful girls from across the world into our global village. During term time, students live in the boarding houses at school. In the exeats and school holidays, many students wish to stay with host families to enjoy New Zealand life.   Homestays are an invaluable opportunity for the student and host family alike, providing the chance to learn more about each other’s cultures and perspectives. Homestay families receive an honorarium of $40 per night. To register your interest, please visit our website here

The students’ use of taxis
We currently use Monique Driving You, Driving Miss Daisy, Hastings Taxis and Village Shuttle to transport your daughters to appointments, the airport and for personal trips into town. While we do our best to ensure the trip is cost effective, it is your daughter’s responsibility to enquire about the best option when booking transport. She must also let you know she has booked a taxi. Please remind girls to be on time for their booking as all taxi services charge if they have to wait. The taxi services also charge if the trip isn’t cancelled, so it is important to let administration know so we can cancel the service.
Please note, the School only acts as an agent and passes on the exact cost to parents and caregivers.
