If anyone could use a drink, it's Meghan Markle!

The media has been digging up all kinds of things about Markle. Some of it isn’t even news worthy. The one Markle fact that I care about is her love of red wine. I would totally love to kick back with Meghan and have a glass of red wine while we talk about tiaras and she slides me the secret to her roast chicken recipe.

“The Tig” was the name of Markle’s lifestyle site that was named after Tignanello, a full-bodied red wine from Italy. Long story short, it’s a wine from Tuscany that is a part of what is called the Super Tuscan revolution which took place in the 1970’s. The red blend is a combo of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc produced in the Chianti Classico region.

This would suggest that Markle has a sophisticated palate. She is prepared for all of the fancy meals at the palace. Not to mention the food she will share with Prince Harry as they travel the world together.

A bottle of Tignanello can run you around $80 to $150 bucks. However, there are Tuscan wines up to par that are more affordable. The following is a list of wines that I like to think of as “royal reds”. Wines from Tuscany that I think Markle would totally give a thumbs up.

I will be popping open a bottle to watch the nuptials. How about you? A bold Italian red is perfect to sip during fairytale weddings or when hanging out with your prince or princess. Cin cin!

Luce Della Vite Toscana 2014 ($100)
This unique wine is produced by Frescabaldi Estates in Montalcino.  It’s the first wine from that area made with 60% Sangiovese and 40% Merlot. Montalcino is a highly regarded wine producing commune known for fabulous red wines.

The Luce is an elegant blend that has aromas of cherries, blackberries, leather, and coffee. Doesn’t that sound nice? Pair with a cheese plate or your exquisite meal. It’s perfect for when you want to feel royal AF.

Roxanne Rosso Toscana 2016 ($20)

This  Super Tuscan wine is produced on Sting and Trudie Styler’s Chianti estate called II Palagio. Who knew they had wine, right?! Roxanne is a blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot, 10% Syrah. It’s the kind of red that goes great with a steak or pasta dish. A truffle cheese would always be a good pairing. If you can’t make it to II Palagio, let it come to you in this bottle of red.

Cecchi La Mora Maremma Toscana 2015 ($14)
A fabulous wine for every occasion that’s a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Aromas that will hit your nose are cherries, spice, chocolate with a touch of floral. This one would be perfect with roast chicken and garlic mashed potatoes. A good one for when you want to have a glass of vino after a long day.

La Vie Pompette

Japanese whisky fans are crying whisky tears. The ever popular Hibiki Whisky is being discontinued because it’s impossible for Suntory to keep up with the demand. It will just ride off into the sunset. So if you own a bottle, you just may want to hold onto it.

As I have mentioned, I’m a huge fan of Malbec wine. There are
some distillers doing some interesting fusions with the juicy red wine. Ever try Malbac gin or Malbec grappa? Not sure how any of them taste, but it sounds like interesting libations. Not to mention, Malamado, the Malbec Port produced by Familia Zuccardi. Oh la la!

Ghirarelli Square is a great place to visit when in San Francisco. If you happen to be a beer drinker, there’s an even bigger reason to visit the area now.
San Francisco Brewing Co has opened a 12,000 square-foot brew temple that look like the kind of spot no one will ever want to leave.
