Is Timing Really Everything?

Updates, Upcoming Events and Recommendations from Alison R. Solomon
Did you ever feel as if timing has landed something perfectly in your lap, or totally screwed you up? Have you experienced right place wrong time, or right place right time? And have you ever read books that you felt spoke directly to you because of the timing, but wouldn't have done if you'd read them at a different time in your life? In this newsletter I'm giving space to some amazing books I've read recently, some wonderfully supportive fellow authors -- oh yes, and I also want to remind readers that my new novel launches May 20th -- TOMORROW!
Timing Is Everything
Afterward, when they asked her to describe what happened, all she could say was, "A thud and a whimper." The thud was more like an explosion, and she didn't realize until much later that she had been the one whimpering.

Timing Is Everything launches this Sunday, May 20th 2018. A portion of all sales made on May 20th (and pre-orders made today) will be donated to the Sonia Plotnick Health Fund, so purchase now! (see links below.)
Wynn Larimer (who you might remember from Along Came the Rain) is putting out the trash late one night when a car smashes into her, injuring her so badly that her entire livelihood is in jeopardy. Gabriella Luna (Gordy) is about to achieve permanent resident status in the USA when she’s accused of a felony crime. The timing couldn’t be worse—she’s terrified of being deported. The woman caught in the middle is Kat Ayalon (who you met in Devoted.) Wynn is Kat’s best friend and Gordy is Kat’s new love interest. But when the worlds of Wynn and Gordy collide, Kat doesn’t know how she can support both women, if helping one means selling out the other.

INTERVIEW BY ANNE HAGAN

I was recently interviewed by mystery writer, Anne Hagan. I love the questions she asked. You can tell by the way she wrote the interview that she's a talented writer, so check out her books! Here's the first couple of questions. The link for the full interview follows.

Anne: A weird question to get us started: Are you spring, summer, fall, or winter? Please share why.

Alison: Summer! I love sunshine. I grew up in the UK and had to learn to embrace the rain. At 18, I moved to Israel and have never lived in a cool climate since. I find sunshine energizing, peaceful, and warming. And that’s the kind of person I’d like to be.

Anne: The U.K.? So then, tea or coffee?

Alison: Tea. You can take the girl out of England but you can’t take England out of the girl.

Anne: LOL. I figured! I’m right there with you though. I love tea.

Anne: If you could live anywhere on this planet, and take everything that you love with you, where would you choose to live?

BOOKS I HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Every note Played by Lisa Genova. Genova is the author of Still Alice and this time she's writing about ALS. This isn't an easy book to read, but it's excellent and well worth it.

Salt Houses by Alyan Hala. This is the first novel I've read about a Palestinian family living in various parts of the Arab world, and I found it extremely interesting.

Let the Northern Lights Erase Your Name by Vendela Vida. The novel  takes place in Lapland/Finland and is beautifully narrated.

Educated by Tara Westover. An amazingly well written memoir by a woman who grew up in a Mormon survivalist family.

I also want to give a shout-out to several authors who've been very supportive of my work who have new books forthcoming or recently released. Check out: Karelia Stetz Waters, Renee MacKenzie, Ali Spooner and Annette Mori
Purchase Devoted here and I'll also donate a percentage of the proceeds to SPHF!
