ULR received prestigious NUL John Mack Award

May 9, 2018 -  The National Urban League hosted its 15th Legislative Policy Conference in Washington, DC, and awarded the Urban League of Rochester with the John Mack Leadership Award, an award that recognizes one affiliate for their overall leadership and long-term commitment to the organization. More than 350 members of the Urban League Movement, including Urban League affiliate CEOs, members of the National Urban League Young Professionals and National Urban League Guild supporters convened for three days of seminars, meetings and advocacy on Urban League policy priorities.

ULR featured in NUL's "State of Black America"

May 4, 2018 - The National Urban League released its 42nd edition of the State of Black America Report. This year's report discusses the digital divide and assesses the state of Black America in our digital economy. The report features an article written by ULR's President & CEO, Mr. William Clark, about how STEM education offers youth a path out of poverty.

May 1, 2018 – KeyBank presented ULR and the Ibero-American Action League with a $100,000 check to start the KeyBank Business Boost & Build Program, a program designed to provide comprehensive business development services to local entrepreneurs.

April 26, 2018 - Citizens Bank presented ULR with a check for $10,000 as part of their Citizens Helping Citizens initiative. ULR will provide educational sessions to help individuals improve their financial literacy and learn how to develop healthy financial habits.

April 19, 2018 - Charter Communications presented ULR with $20,000 to support Connect Rochester, a digital literacy program where ULR youth participants educate families and seniors on how to use the internet. Watch our segment aired on Spectrum News Rochester.

GEAR UP students learn game design
ULR's GEAR UP partnered with Generation Outreach to introduce participants to game design. Several GEAR UP students completed Generation Outreach's ten week course and learned how to create their own video game. GEAR UP celebrated the game release at the Rochester Central Library on May 10, 2018.
City of Rochester wants to hear from YOU

The City of Rochester is seeking input to inform its new Comprehensive Plan, Rochester 2034, which will create a 15-year vision for the city’s future and strategies we can use to achieve it. Input from the community is central to this planning effort. The survey asks you to rate what’s important to you and also provides many opportunities for comment. You can comment as little or as much as you want – the survey can be done in as little as five minutes!
