Kindergarten Orientation on Thursday!
Parents and incoming kindergarteners are invited to Peterson School for an important orientation on Thursday, May 17th at 5:00 p.m. (pizza will be served at 4:45). Come and learn what kindergarteners need to know before school starts, how to help create a smooth transition for your child, and what he or she will be doing throughout the day at school. Please enter the building through Door #3 on Kimball Avenue.
You will also have an opportunity to meet the kindergarten teaching team, other parents, and administrators.
Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to begin to form a lasting partnership with your child’s teacher!

Volunteers Needed!
We need a few more volunteers to help make Kindergarten Orientation on Thursday, May 17th a success. Please email the PAC if you are able to assist with set-up from 4:15-4:45. We also need assistance in checking in new parents and serving pizza from approximately 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thank you!

North Park Community Market
The North Park Community Market is returning to the Peterson School Parking Lot on Sunday, May 20th from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and will continue one Sunday each month through October. Stop by next Sunday for free STEM-related kids' activities, enjoy the live music, visit the Friends of Peterson table, and/or shop at the many vendors!

June PAC/PTA Meeting
Mark your calendars for Thursday, June 7th at 8:45 a.m. for the final joint PAC/PTA Meeting of the year!
We will have special guest Sarah Holtkamp from the Albany Park Library join us to share information about events at the library over the summer.
We'll also share ideas about free and low-cost activities to do with your kids over the summer. And we'll have our end-of-the-year book swap, so please bring books that your kids are no longer reading, and/or come and get some new books for your children to read over the summer!

Another Source for Information
The PAC has sponsored another way of finding out what is happening in and around Peterson - a new double-sided bulletin board outside of the playground on Catalpa near Kimball. Stop by and read about upcoming meetings, events, and more!

The PAC was created to help support the role of parents and the school as equal partners in children’s education. The primary purpose of the PAC is to empower parents to inspire and assist their children in achieving their educational goals.

New Student Enrollment
Enrollment for the 2018-19 school year begins this week! Please enter through Door #9 and come to the Main Office to register your child if s/he is new to Peterson. Enrollment hours will be:
- Monday, May 14th from 8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, May 15th from 7:00-8:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
- Wednesday, May 16th from 8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m.
- Thursday, May 17th from 8:45 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Friday, May 18th from 7:00-8:00 a.m. and 8:45 - 3:45 p.m.
Please bring the following:
- Child's birth certificate
- Parent's Illinois drivers license or Illinois State ID with a current address
- Two proofs of address (i.e. current utility bills, bank or credit card statement, etc.)
- Parents' contact information and emergency contact information for an additional trusted adult (21 years old or older)
- Medical, dental, or vision exam forms if they are complete (if not, they will be provided and can be turned in later).

Applying for Preschool within CPS
The Preschool Application process for 3- and 4- year old children to attend a CPS preschool is now open. All new applicants will receive placement information beginning on May 21st. Click here to learn more or call the Chicago Early Learning Hotline at 312-229-1690.
