Bears Business

Families are invited to enjoy a fun night celebrating the end of the school year at Lombard Roller Rink, 201 22nd St, Lombard, on Thursday, May 24 from 6-8 pm. Admission cost is free; skate rental is $4 per person and paid that night. There is a $10 minimum on all credit card transactions, and no outside food or drinks are allowed into the building. Personal skates and roller blades are allowed but must pass inspection, and you skate at your own risk. This is not a drop-off event; each attendee must have a responsible adult on site.

Ben Franklin Physical Education classes will be participating in the annual Food Pantry Run during the week of May 14th - May 18th (actual day depends on weather). This event helps to replenish the local Glen Ellyn Food Pantry with much needed goods. Ben Franklin is one of the schools designated in the month of May to restock food pantry supplies. The students of Ben Franklin have been busy creating original works of art during the school day. These will be framed and on display for the first Ben Franklin Art Show on Wednesday, May 23 from 6:30-8:00 pm in the school gym. The framed art work will be available for purchase for $25 that night or for purchase prior to the show through the PTA Webstore until May 21. For pre-ordered art, families will not be able to view the art work until the night of the show. Art work can be purchased at the show via credit card, cash or check. No art work will be available to purchase after the show. Any art work not purchased at the show will be returned to the students.

Also, we are in need of parent volunteers for the evening of the show on Wed., May 23 from 7:15-8:15 pm.  Please sign up here to volunteer.

Ben Franklin’s Annual Book Swap will take place in the library on Wednesday, May 30th. This is a fun event for the students as they get the chance to pick out their own books! Please set aside some books for your child to swap and bring them to the library before school on May 23rd, 24th and 25th. We will mark down the number of books your child brings in and on the day of the book swap, your child can select that number of books to bring home. You may bring in as many books as you like but you can only take home 10. 

Has your child outgrown his favorite Ben Franklin hoodie or graduating from Ben Franklin? We will be doing a collection for any vintage bear wear now through May 25th. Please drop in the basket under the "I Forgot Table" outside the office.

The Ben Franklin PE teachers are planning our first Olympic Day and they need volunteers to help make the games a success! Please sign up here for a shift on Wednesday, May 30th and you will receive more details next month.
