Cupcake Wines from Central Coast California are all about making easy drinking and fruity wines, sometimes we need to give the super-serious and cerebral wines a break & indulge in something a bit more frivolous.
The 'Red Velvet' is a blend of Zinfandel, Merlot and Petit Sirah, individually fermented and aged then blended before bottling. Aromas of boysenberry chocolate torte, with a twist of caramel and cherry cola. This is not technically a dry wine with 12g/L residual sugar, very soft and smooth in the mouth ... just like a Red Velvet Cupcake! The proprietors recommend pairing with a grilled bacon-cheese burger. On sale at $24, definitely one to try if you're a fan of the sweeter and juicy reds.
