Voor wie?

De Train the trainer-workshop (voertaal Engels) is bedoeld voor professionele hulpverleners die de inleidende studiedag en basisworkshop ICF gevolgd hebben bij Sig (3 à 4 dagen in totaal) of elders een gelijkwaardige opleiding gekregen hebben. De deelnemers worden verondersteld met ICF te werken in de praktijk en de intentie te hebben dit door te geven aan anderen.

Inhoud

This two-day interactive English-language workshop will provide participants the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about the ICF, insight in potential practical application of the ICF, opportunity for networking and structured workshop materials that can be used for training others in the ICF. Furthermore, participants will get insight into WHO activities and activities of the ICF community - clinical and scientific - worldwide. Each participant will receive a certificate of participation.

The workshop is built up as modules, comprising of lectures and exercises (single and group work). The modules on day 1 focus on the basics of the ICF, while the modules on day 2 focus on specific topics like ICF Core Sets, linking methodology, and ICF in rehabilitation. Although the participants are already familiar with the ICF and may use it already in their daily practice, they have to go through the moves of a whole workshop and do the exercises themselves to be able to pass the knowledge on to others.

This train-the-trainer workshop is very interactive, emphasising the philosophy of “learning by doing”. Each module additionally addresses what the trainer will be able to do when he/she completes the particular module, as well as frequently asked questions and tips & tricks. There is also a specific train-the-trainer module that more intensively addresses the skills and tools trainers need, giving them an opportunity to practice conveying a piece of information and exchanging ideas for creating exercises.

Melissa Selb, MSc (Nottwil, Switzerland)

Melissa Selb completed her Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling at Boston University (USA), and worked as a Rehabilitation Counselor/Case Manager in several rehabilitation facilities and agencies before moving to Germany, where she ran a counselling centre and half-way house for the homeless and persons with alcohol abuse problems. Melissa also worked in the pharmaceutical industry (last years as an administrator of a medical research foundation and a grant programme) before returning to her professional roots in rehabilitation at SPF.

She serves as the liaison between the ICF Research Branch and WHO-FIC partners as well as with other collaborating partners worldwide on ICF and ICF-related projects. Among her responsibilities include consulting on ICF-related projects (e.g. ICF Core Set development projects), coordinating and conducting ICF trainings, support for the development of ICF-based tools, support to rehabilitation professional societies on ICF implementation, and publication support.
