$4,000 CAS Grant Received for Implementing Student Projects

Envirolution received a $4,000 CAS Energy Coalition grant for implementing Project ReCharge student projects.  Selected projects will be announced at the end of the school year.

Climate Action For Schools (CAS) offers standards-based activities, games, and hands-on lessons that will educate students on current environmental issues while equipping them as engineers of solutions. CAS offers modules, each focusing on a different aspect of the environment.

Green Schools Conference and Expo in Denver a Success

Envirolution and Project ReCharge teachers presented at the Green Schools Conference on May 4.  The group led an engaging passive cooling activity for over 40 teachers, administrators, informal educators and business leaders from around the country. "It was inspiring learning from and sharing similar visions of sustainability with others at the conference," said Robertson.

26 Students Attend Envirolution's Sustainability Tour (March 26-30, 2018)

Envirolution held its 3rd Sustainability Tour in March.  Twenty six students from ten schools spent spring break visiting our 2018 tour locations: TESLA Gigafactory1, Lockwood Landfill, Oxbow Nature Park, Desert Research Institute, RTC 4th Street Terminal, Ormat, Patagonia, KTMB, the River School Farm, the Discovery Museum and the Great Basin Community Food Coop.

Our behavior change survey indicated that there was a 65% increase in knowledge about sustainability issues after the tour.  While 30% of students said they would consider a STEM career before tour, 85% said they would consider a STEM career after the tour. All students said they would take sustainability practices with them into whatever career they chose and 100% of the students said they would recommend the sustainability tour to a friend. Students interested in attending the 2019 tour can find information on Envirolution's website.

Community Events

Want us at your next community or school event? We would LOVE to come, just contact us with more info.

This Spring, Envirolution had ample opportunity to engage students with our energy bike and Project ReCharge hands-on activities.
We participated in several STEM education events at schools and hundreds of students came by our table during Reno Earth Day in April.  On May 7, several hundred students came to Envirolution's booth to learn about sustainability during the Reno Aces Education Day at the Ballpark.  Students got to watch the Reno Aces play the Tacoma Rainiers afterwards.
This May is the inaugural One Truckee River Month; 31 days of events in, on, and around the Truckee River. There are many ways to get active and healthy on the river from walking tours and running races to Pilates and yoga. There are many learning opportunities, art activities, history talks, food, fun and more. A schedule of One Truckee Meadows events can be found on their website.
