A Note from GHNA Co-chair Anne Davis

Hello Neighbors!

A lot of exciting things are happening in our neighborhood and in our city.  This month I want to let you know about a new network of neighborhood groups that has come together to help stretch our sense of community beyond neighborhood boundaries called the Pasadena Neighborhood Network. With guidance from Collaborate PASadena, (a supportive initiative that describes their vision “for the children of Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre to all grow up in a safe, stable, and supportive environment that prepares them for success in school and life”), the Pasadena Neighborhood Network hopes to be a resource for neighborhoods across Pasadena to share, learn and communicate with each other.  More information to come!

I am looking forward to seeing you at the GHNA fundraiser yard sale this Saturday!  See article below if you have items you would like to donate for sale.

Happy Summer,
~Anne Davis, GHNA co-chair

GHNA's Annual Yard Sale Fundraiser
Saturday, July 7, 8am-3pm – 1186 N. Marengo

We need your help!

Thanks to fundraising efforts that take place throughout the year, Garfield Heights is able to fund great events like the Home Tour and projects like the emergency backpacks.

Our biggest fundraiser is the annual yard sale! Here’s how to help:

1  Donate your stuff!  Your unwanted relic is sure to be a vintage treasure to someone else! The items that sell best are like-new items such as: sports equipment (especially bikes), art supplies, pots/pans, newer clothes, electronics, antiques, outdoor storage/pots/decorations, cameras, watches, baby items, appliances, camping gear, and jewelry. Drop off items at 1186 N. Marengo Ave.

2 Volunteer your time! It's fun to hang out with your neighbors and lunch is on us! Sign up for a time slot: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C054CABAE29A5FD0-ghna
Or simply drop by between 6am-5pm. We'll need help with set up, sales, and clean-up! We'd love your help!

3   Stop by and shop!  We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

If you have any questions, please contact: Jura Slattery (818) 665-6441

GHNA’s 12th Home Tour on Its Way

The GHNA Home Tour Committee is hard at work on putting together an extraordinary 12th biennial tour, but we can still use one or two more houses to give us a full roster.  Will you join us?

If you are interested in having your house on the tour, or are working on your house and might want to serve as our “hard hat house” (a house in the process of restoration that would allow visitors to see and learn how old homes are made new again), we’d like to hear from you.  Please call Steve Preston at (626) 345-9796 or email him at steve.preston@charter.net.

We’re also beginning the search for docents.  If you love old houses and would like to serve as a tour docent, please contact Vice Chair Sandra Davis at sanfaynique@aol.com.  We’ll give you training, help you learn about the houses on the tour, and get you ready for a fun day meeting the community.
Tickets will go on sale this September.  If you would like to volunteer to help in any way, give Steve a call at (626) 345-9796 or steve.preston@charter.net.  If you have a business and would like to advertise in our tour booklet, contact Janet Whaley at janet1860@charter.net.
