Perspective

In preparation for a new EMI Senegal website, I've been reflecting on our history, including past projects in West Africa and the team's arrival in Senegal. I was often impatient as I waited almost 5 years to see God bring a team together for this office, and then another 2 years as we studied language.

However, time invested is not lost, and it brings even more opportunity, building greater character. With perspective, I'm thankful for and able to rejoice in these seasons of waiting. Still, I have to remind myself of this as we wait now for Céline's paperwork. May God be glorified as He continues to shape us!

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:1-5

We pray that you were able to take time to reflect on and celebrate Christ's death and resurrection last month. Céline and I had the privilege to gather with several churches in Lausanne, Switzerland, where we spent Easter weekend getting to know EMI's first French intern who will be starting in the USA office this fall.
Praise the Lord for reconciliation in Christ, that "while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly...God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Rom. 5:6,8)
We are justified and saved by His death, and we live and rejoice in the resurrection and life of Jesus!

Prayer & Praise

  • Rejoice with us that EMI's first French intern will join the USA office from August to December!
  • Praise God that we completed the conceptual design report and drawings for the CLTI school campus in northern Liberia!
  • Pray for wisdom and discernment as EMI Senegal considers upcoming projects in West Africa.
  • Continue to pray for the EMI Senegal team as we all prepare for upcoming home assignments. Pray for John's time in Senegal (July/August) to look after the office while others are traveling, as well as for Céline while he is away.
  • Praise God for His provision! He continues to faithfully supply for our needs through generous partners. Pray for funds to cover flights to Senegal and the US later this year.
  • Praise God that Céline has an interview at the US embassy for a visa! Pray for this appointment and that the appointments for her French citizenship can be scheduled soon. May God have His way during this season in France!
  • Praise God for future Senegal office staff! Pray for their preparation and upcoming French language studies. Keep praying for provision of a French-speaking architect to join our team.

Our Visit to the USA

We've tentatively scheduled a visit and celebration in the US for October/November 2018. We're excited to connect with as many of you as possible!

Dates and more to details still to come, but please contact us if you'd be interested in hosting a time of prayer and sharing about our ministry with EMI.
