PARALLEL HARMONIES: ART AND NATURE
GROUP EXHIBITION

The United Arts Council of Collier County and the Friends of Rookery Bay have curated an exhibition with focus on the environment to be presented at the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve

“An artist must possess Nature. He must identify with her rhythm, by efforts that will prepare the mastery which will later enable him to express himself in his own language.” Henri Matisse

The relationship between the artist and the natural world that inspires him or her has evolved over the millennia and is still a central focus of contemporary practice for many artists today. Relationships are symbiotic, one taking care of the other. In a time of global climate change, artists are using the inspiration of nature and its current health to bring light and change to human patterns of behavior. They aim to protect this relationship and care for what inspires them. Wind, color. Trees, texture. Sun, vibrancy.

“Art is a harmony parallel with nature.” Paul Cézanne

Works by the following artist will be on display at the exhibition:

César Aguilera
Paul Arsenault
Katia Miranda
Ehren Fritz Gerhard
