What's Going On at NCTR?

This week, NCTR is hosting its annual Symposium, which brings together Network Partners, staff, thought partners and supporters to engage in professional development and working sessions that examine strategies and promising practices to improve resident preparation. To kick off the event yesterday, NCTR welcomed our keynote speaker, Chicago Public Schools CEO Dr. Janice K. Jackson who discussed the importance of teacher residencies in preparing hundreds of teachers for Chicago Public Schools.

“The district is directing teachers into high-needs schools, and that’s the work principals tell us they really appreciate,” said Dr. Jackson. “We also...believe in the power of teacher residency programs. We know this powerful and comprehensive model can be pretty empowering for new teachers. It really helps them transition into schools that can be pretty challenging, and provides them with the support they need to go in and be successful.”
