Pompidou Centre, Paris
I’m very pleased to have been invited to take part in 'MUTATIONS / CRÉATIONS 2: Coder le monde' at the Pompidou Centre in Paris. Curated by Frederic Migayrou, this exhibition is the second in a series of four exploring how computers and digital technology are changing art, architecture and design.
The exhibition explores the use of code and algorithms and features work by original Algorists such as Frieder Nake and Manfred Mohr as well as more recent work by artists such as Ryoji Ikeda and Casey Reas. I’ll be showing two video works: 'Cellular Forms' and 'Hybrid Forms'. The exhibition runs from 15th June to 27th August.

50 Years of the Computer Arts Society
It’s 50 years since the Computer Arts Society was founded in 1968 by a group of pioneering artists. To celebrate, a number of events are being planned including the creation of a new collection of computer based art which is going on a touring exhibition. I've been invited to take part together with other artists including Paul Brown, Ernest Edmonds, William Latham, Daniel Brown and boredomreaseach.
The opening event for the first exhibition is at the Lightbox Gallery in Leicester on Wednesday 23rd May, where I’ll be giving a short talk. From there it is scheduled to be shown at the EVA conference in London in July and at the Brighton Digital Festival in September.

The Great Exhibition of the North
Because of my involvement over a number of years with the University of Teesside, I've been invited to take part in the Great Exhibition of the North. This event will be running through the summer from 22nd June to 9th September in Newcastle and Gateshead.
I'll be showing a two-screen video of Cellular Forms in the 'Which Way North' exhibition at Great North Museum: Hancock. 'Which Way North' promises to be an eclectic show including the last piano played by John Lennon, a sonic screwdriver from Doctor Who, as well as art by Damien Hirst and David Hockney.

Art in FLUX
Closer to home, I’ll be taking part in the first exhibition organised by FLUX, a London based forum of new media artists. The group has been meeting for nearly two years, allowing artists to connect, share ideas and present work in progress. The first public exhibition organised by the group, 'Art in FLUX - Experiments in New Media Arts Now', is taking place from the 31st May to 3rd June at Ugly Duck in Bermondsey, London.
It should be really interesting and will include talks, panel sessions and performances as well as the exhibition of artwoks. I’ll be showing a number of new digitally fabricated sculpture works as well as my ‘Constrained Forms’ stereoscopic installation. I'll be giving a presentation about my work on Friday 1st June at 6pm, as well as taking part in a panel session on Saturday 2nd June at 5pm.

Chromos
Chromos, the art-science VR project that I developed together with Max Cooper and scientists from the Babraham Institute last year, is being very well received.
The project creates an immersive experience using data from Babraham Institute research into recovering the 3D structure of DNA in actual cells. Following presentations at the Cambridge Science Festival and London’s Science Museum Lates, it has been shown in Berlin and Lisbon, featured in one of Kat Arney's 'Naked Genetics' podcasts, and is being shown at the ‘Open Codes’ exhibition at the ZKM in Karlsruhe. We’re currently talking with another museum about a possible permanent display, and received a request to submit an application to the STARTS Prize. The team at the Babraham Institute is very happy with all the attention the project is getting.

EVA London, V&A Digital Futures
The annual Electronic Visualisation and Art (EVA) London conference is taking place from Monday 9th July to Friday 13th July, together with an exhibition organised by V&A Digital Futures. I’ll be showing new digitally fabricated sculpture work, as well as participating in a panel session about Alan Turing and in the ‘Research in Education’ day highlighting work being done by students.

V&A Digital Design Weekend
Every September, as part of the London Design Festival, the V&A hosts Digital Design Weekend. This year's event runs on the 22nd and 23rd September and I’m currently talking with the V&A about participating in an number of ways. Hopefully I’ll have more information soon.
