Greetings from O'Brien Guitars

Few people in this world have done more to advance the cause of the classical guitar than Spanish luthier, Jose Romanillos. The Daily Mail has called him “the Stradivari of the guitar” and the Italian magazine Sei Corde hailed him as “the most important living stringed instrument maker”. In addition to making guitars, he is a known scholar on Spanish luthiers. He has published a book on the life of Antonio Torres as well as a book on the construction of a Spanish guitar.  José has given courses on guitar making all over the world. I was privileged to be able to participate in his last course given in Spain in 2012. While there José and his wife Marian graciously invited me to their home after a long day in the shop and we talked late into the night. I had my video camera and made a five part series on the conversation that evening. Here is the result of that delightful evening of conversation.
If you ever are in Siguenza, Spain be sure and drop by the museum that José has established. I have included a video below about the musuem.
Finally, a one hour documentary about José Romanillos  was recently made available from director David Herranz. It is in Spanish with English subtitles. There is a small fee to watch it but it is well worth the price.
If you are interested in learning to build guitars or just want
to see how I build my guitars then schedule a class with me.
If you are in need of a concert quality classical or steel string
guitar then let me know as I would love to build a guitar for you.

Thank you,
