Earn your Bilingual Authorization in Spanish or Mandarin

Are you a credentialed in-service K-12 teacher with expertise in Mandarin or Spanish? Earn your Bilingual Authorization over your summer break in just 8 weeks! 

The UCLA Summer Intensive for Bilingual Teachers (SIBT) meets all Bilingual Authorization course requirements, is approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and is led by faculty from UCLA’s Center X in the Graduate School of Education & Information Studies and experts in K-12 language teacher training.

Program Structure

The UCLA SIBT begins with four weeks of independent coursework, followed by ten full days of intensive academic instruction and teaching practicum at UCLA and an LAUSD Tie-Ins School Partner, and concludes with three weeks of final assignments to be completed and submitted independently.
