Pancake Breakfast

Do you enjoy meeting new people? If so, you may like hosting the coffee table on Sunday mornings after church. You are welcome to sign up anytime in the church office.  No baking required.  However, if you like to bake but don’t want to host coffee table, please call the church office and we can get you details on how to do that as well!

Be sure to come and share a delicious pancake breakfast with friends, new and old, on Sunday, May 13 in the Social Hall.  Breakfast is served from 7:45 to 9:15AM.  All are invited and are encouraged to bring a friend along.

Come To Pastor’s Sunday School

In Pastor’s Sunday School we study the lectionary texts which follow the church calendar.  It’s an informal study, always open to all, at 8:30AM in the New Room, just behind the church office.
Below are the lectionary readings for this week:
 Acts 1:15-17, 21-26 Psalm 1 1 John 5:9-13 John 17:6-11

Living Fully / Dying Well

You are invited to St. Mark’s on May 12, 9-11:30 AM to hear from a variety of professionals about how to manage life’s aging challenges. Planning for the future while living life to its fullest can be very complicated.  Come to ask questions about a variety of topics that come with aging. More information is available in the office or contact Rev. Jeri at jeri@stmarksumcsd.org.

Calling 2018 Graduates

Each year, St. Mark’s likes to recognize this year’s college or high school graduates with a small gift. If you are a 2018 graduate or know someone who will be graduating who would like to be honored, please submit their name and the school’s name to the list to smumcsdoffice@gmail.com. For college graduates, we would like to include not only the name of their college or university but also the degree received.

Thank You For Your Generous Support

by Kris Nieder, Director of Youth and Intergen Ministries

Please let me extend a heartfelt thank you for your generous support of our Sierra Service Project Team. The special offering for SSP raised $2,400! Thank you so much for making sure that St. Mark's can send an SSP team to Oregon this summer. Our youth Kai, Livia, Diana, Joliee, and Charlee will be traveling under the capable leadership of former SSP counselor Christina Peer.  Personally, I am so grateful for your support. It benefits all of our youth. In addition to SSP, it allows me to focus on our  innovative after-school programs, Confirmation, youth Sunday School, and youth directed volunteer opportunities (such as the Living Nativity Market and dinner, and the Mad Hatter Tea Party.) Thank you!

A Joyous Occasion: Confirmation On May 20th

by Kris Nieder, Director of Youth and Intergen Ministries

On Sunday, May 20, we will celebrate Confirmation during worship. Frankie, Livia, Christian, Kai, Joey, and Diana all participated in our Confirmation program. Thanks to the strong support of their mentors and parents, our confirmands were able to accomplish quite a lot in five months! Confirmands attended the Bishop's Confirmation Retreat. They volunteered at the Rolling Hills Dinner, Mad Hatter Tea Party benefiting Meals on Wheels, and the Preschool Carnival. They attended four classes to learn more about the United Methodist Church. And, they made interfaith visits to the Dharma Bum Buddhist Temple, the Islamic Center of San Diego, and the synagogue of Congregation Beth Israel. After the service, stop by the patio to enjoy cake in celebration of this truly joyous occasion at St. Mark's!

Never Miss A Sermon

Missed Sunday’s sermon? You can watch Sunday morning sermons on video via St. Mark’s website: stmarksumcsd.org/sermons. They can also be found on St. Mark’s YouTube channel: stmarksumcsd.org/youtube.
