Our School Value for Term Two
Respect/Whakaute
 Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome back to school and a new term of learning for our children. The Tongariro Team wasted no time by going away on camp on their first day back to school, and by all accounts, a great time was had by all. They were very fortunate to
capitalise on our late summer and enjoyed some sterling weather. My thanks to all the staff for the organisation and preparation for the camp and to all the parent helpers who supported our children during the camp week.

On 25
May our Kahui Ako o Kaipara (Community of Learning) will be hosting an afternoon for our students and community up at Kaipara College. Several of our senior students will be performing a new waiata written by the college students. We will also be announcing the winner of the Kahui Ako logo competition.  Staff from all of the Kaipara schools will be attending.

Early Childhood Education teachers, MoE Support Workers and teacher aides and school administrators are joining under the Mana
Taurite
banner with women in every sector who are fighting for equal pay.   If you think it’s time for the women in our community who work with children and young people to be valued please show your support by supporting their cause

T
he Education Conversation Kōrero Mātauranga is an important moment in the history of education. Everyone involved in education is working to develop a shared vision for the future of learning. More than 6,700 New Zealanders have already completed the online survey on the future of education. The survey is a quick and easy way to contribute your views and ideas to the Kōrero. We would be grateful if students, teachers, parents and whānau take part. https://conversation.education.govt.nz/

Photolife Individual & Sibling Photos

Photolife will be visiting the school on Wednesday 16 April to take individual portraits. Photo keys for ordering the photos will be sent home with children at a later date. If you have more than one child at Waimauku School and wish for them to be photographed together please come to the office and collect a ‘sibling form’ which must be completed and returned to us before the photo day. Please note that we are unable to include siblings who do not currently attend Waimauku School.

Help wanted!
Are you a perfectionist?  Do you have some spare time to help out the school?  Are there no bubbles in your child's book covers at the start of the year?  Then we need you! We are looking for some fabulous people to help tape new books for our Junior Book Room.  If you are able to help, could you please contact Kate Fox in Room 23 (Monday or Wednesday afternoons are good) or email kate.fox@waimauku.school.nz

Kapa Haka T-Shirts
Orders for Kapa Haka t-shirts and hoodies are now closed and all orders have been distributed. The school has a very limited stock of t-shirts for sale on a first come, first served basis. These are available on Kindo or from the school office.  All children who wish to perform with our Kapa Haka group must wear a Waimauku Kapa Haka t-shirt.

Bus Code of Conduct
A Bus Code of Conduct form has been given to every student in the school.  Please sign the form and return it to school with your child.  This applies to ALL students.

Bus Driver
Our lovely bus driver Des finishes up this Friday.  Des has been so accommodating and a great friend to the school - he will be missed.

Scholastic Book Club brochures (Issue 3) are now available from the library if your child has not yet brought one home. The last day for ordering is Friday 18 May. We would encourage you to consider using the LOOP system of ordering online but still welcome paper orders in the library. Please note that if paying by cheque, they need to be made payable to Scholastic NZ.

Do come in and take a look around our lovely library and browse our awesome collection of books which have been significantly funded by these Scholastic Book Club fundraising efforts over the years. Your support in purchasing from these brochures is very much appreciated by all the children in the school.
