Hello <<First name>>

It's been a little while, hasn't it? What's my excuse? Sunshine happiness and lollipops would be a lie, but let's go with that. I will warn you now, I've to do a little mention of that *whispers and in lower case to make it quieter* "gdpr stuff". It's necessary but basically, if you don't want to hear from us again, unsubscribe and we'll delete your details. If you do want to keep on receiving the newsletter and occasional email, just your name and email address will be kept and not shared. There. Done. Right, I hope you have a nice beverage suitable for the weather, and let's begin. As always, if there's anything you wanna tell me, don't be shy and hit reply.

News

We're proud to announce our first musical event and it's going to be a special evening, I can assure you. The wonderful team down at St Neots Museum have kindly agreed to host Music at the Museum on Friday 6th July. Paul Creane and Paula Cox are a harmony driven folk duo who have an amazing acoustic sound and energy that will make for a very special first gig at the museum. Make sure to save the date and I'll see you there - can you tell I'm excited?!

Awards for show garden at this years Chelsea Flower Show

Congratulations to Neotist Robert Barker for attaining a Silver Gilt award at the Chelsea Flower Show. Definitely a controversial design (his was the one with all the concrete blocks) which received great interest and many positive and sometimes emotional comments from people who were touched by the message of the design. I was most impressed to see Jo Whiley having her pic there (not garden related, I know, but I'm easily swayed by a radio celeb).

Facing Fears

PechaKucha throwback - James McEvoy - Facing Fears, which has been watched over 2,200 times. This might be useful for those of you who are thinking of presenting a talk at the next PechaKucha (date soon to be announced).

Capturing the beauty St Neots from above and below

If you've not come across the account on Instagram that celebrates the diversity and beauty of St Neots then take a look. Set up by local photographer Maciek Platek in 2015 it captures an eclectic mix of historic, recreational and industrial sites across the local area with aerial and ground level photos.

Creating Change: How communities and artists can work together

On Sunday 10 June, from 11.30am at March Town Hall, Wysing Arts Centre is hosting a free event that looks at bringing together artists of international fame alongside grassroots projects which make a impact on the infrastructure of towns and cities. Artists and other contributors will discuss creative ways they work with communities to make an impact on their local environment through architecture, networks and spatial practice. A full line-up for the day and how to book tickets here.

Free workshops with Drive the Network

Thanks very much to Anne Hawkins from Drive the Network for getting in touch with info of some great FREE (yes, freee) workshops you can attend. They're in collaboration with Barclays Eagle Labs and take place in Cambridge, but you must book your place - so be quick! Not to show a preference for any of them, but our very own Neotist, Hayley Williams, will be presenting one on 25th June. Take a look at the full listing. If you'd like anyone to go with, get in touch and we can put a little shout out on our social media or summink.

Evening classes

Adult learning in St Neots stopped a while back, but we know there's a hunger for learning. Just look at Habby Days, Beautiful Swagger, Button Knit and the local groups (photography, art). We are hoping to be able to provide more, so what would you like to see? More importantly, what could you teach? Now there's a thought...

Mental health - 5 tips for lone workers

The wonderful Danielle Bridge from ABC Life Support has kindly agreed to put together five tips for those of us who work mostly from home and mostly alone. Danielle's passion for helping us maintain our good health both physically and mentally is inspirational as I found out by attending a first aid course with her recently. I left empowered, inspired, and itching to use my new found skills with a defibrillator - would you know what to do?

Love's Farm House Great Get Together Community Fun Day

Last year this event was a great success, not just because it was the hottest day of the year, but for the diverse range of activities on offer as well as a great turnout. This year is set to be even bigger and better. On Saturday 24 June the organisers (Loves Farm Community Association, Loves Farm House and Loves Farm Runners) are opening up the event for those of you who would like to get involved in some way by running a stall or activity. Please get in touch with Helene as soon as you can with your idea. If you are fundraising all money made by your stall will go entirely to your group.
