Open house on Eiber history
Join History Matters, the City of Lakewood and the Lakewood Historic Preservation Commission at 6:30 p.m. on May 22 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 9200 W. 10th Ave., to celebrate the completion of the Eiber Neighborhood Cultural Resource Survey: Challenging Assumptions and Exploring Contradictions. The results of the survey will be presented, and recommended next steps will be outlined. For more information, please contact Mary Therese Anstey at mtanstey@historymattersllc.com or 303-214-8069. Nighttime construction
The City will allow construction to occur at nighttime for the following projects:
  • Clean and rehabilitate the sanitary sewer in the Bear Creek Greenbelt owned by the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District. The work will occur May 14.
  • Directional bore, place and splice duct and fiber on Wadsworth Boulevard between West 20th and West 26th Avenue. The work will occur between May 14 and June 1 and will require lane closures.
Free mulch
Lakewood residents can pick up free mulch from 7 a.m. to noon on May 12 and 19 at the City Greenhouse, 9556 W. Yale Ave. Staff will be available with a loader to assist residents. Mulch is a byproduct of Lakewood’s tree trimming operations and limb drop-off events. The mulch makes excellent ground cover in shrub and tree beds and helps landscaped areas retain water. Details at Lakewood.org.

Space is limited and registration is required for these programs, which are free or low-cost with the purchase of a park pass. Visit Lakewood.org/BCLPEvents for more information.
