WeGO to hold Executive Committee Meeting 2018 in Quezon City
October 17-19, 2018

Quezon City (Philippines) was elected to host the WeGO Executive Committee Meeting 2018. Aside from the flagship meeting of WeGO's leadership, the event will feature smart city sessions focusing on urban innovation and sustainable development. The event will coincide with the Philippine Smart City Summit  and Expo 2018, the premier event on smart cities in the Philippines.  Apply for the WeGO Smart Sustainable City Feasibility Study Program 2018
WeGO is pleased to announce the Request for Project Proposal (RFP) for the WeGO Smart Sustainable City Feasibility Study Program 2018. WeGO has been conducting the Feasibility Study Program since its establishment in order to facilitate the transformation of WeGO member cities to Smart Sustainable Cities. The approximate project value provided to the beneficiary city will be $100,000.
This year’s Program will focus on the use of data analytics in smart sustainable city development. If your city is interested in becoming this year's beneficiary, please send a project proposal that best works for your city based on your city's priorities and available data. Kindly sumbit all proposals to secretariat@we-gov.org until May 31, 2018. More information on how to apply can be found here.
WeGO to organize the FMDV-WeGO 
Study Visit in Europe

May 28-31, 2018
Paris, France & Brussels, Belgium
WeGO members will take part in the FMDV-WeGO Study Visit,  where cities have the exciting oppotunity to meet French and Belgian partners to find solutions to their smart city challenges. Apart from the matchmaking meetings with French companies and the City of Paris, participants will also be able to take part in a workshop organized by the Uraia Platform on the use of data for better city management in Brussels. Be part of the GCTC Global Tech Jam

As part of the launch of the WeGO Thematic Clusters, WeGO is also acting as an official partner of the Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC). The City of Portland, in collaboration with Technology Association of Oregon and urban systems, will host the Global Tech Jam. Details on the event including the program can be found on the Global Tech Jam site. The expertise and experience of our member cities is highly valued at these events, and we encourage members to participate in our session and explore various opportunities to get involved. Take part  in the 4th Asia-Pacific Regional Forum on Smart Sustainable Cities and e-Government
July 4-6, 2018

Hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam, the 4th Asia-Pacific Regional Forum on Smart Sustainable Cities and e-Government will be organized by the International Telecommunication (ITU) and WeGO. The Forum serves as a platform for knowledge sharing and discussion on emerging issues related to smart cities and sustainable development, and at the event, WeGO will be putting up a High-level Round Table Discussion on Smart Sustainable Cities. WeGO to hold Joint Workshop for Smart Sustainable Cities and e-Government
July 9-13, 2018
Jeju Island, Korea
WeGO is organizing the Joint Workshop for Smart Sustainable Cities and e-Government in partnership with the National Information Society Agency of Korea, World Bank, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety of Korea. Participants will have the opportunity to obtain a broad understanding of Smart Sustainable City ecosystems and acquire first-hand knowledge of successful Korean and international cases. The program’s vibrant study & cultural tours will further ensure that participants have a memorable time on the island of Jeju, which is renowned for its Green ICT practices and picturesque sceneries. 
Participate in the WeGO Smart City Week
September 17-21, 2018
Korea
The WeGO Smart City Week, in partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, UN World Tourism Organization, Goyang City, and KINTEX, will gather global smart city leaders for a rich week of programs comprised of: Smart City Summit Asia 2018 in Goyang, the 3rd Seoul Digital Summit, and the 7th Global Summit on Urban Tourism in Seoul. The week will be a premier gathering of Smart City leaders and stakeholders from around the world to showcase their Smart City initiatives, collaborate and build cooperation and partnerships with the Seoul Metropolitan Government as well as Goyang City. Join the Urban Innovation Challenge: Citypreneurs
Seoul, Korea
The Urban Innovation Challenge: Citypreneurs is a startup competition that works in close collaboration with city governments to solve urban problems and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  Hosted by UNESCAP, WFUNA, Seoul Digital Foundation, UNDP, and WeGO, the competition is geared towards the youth, and winning teams will receive mentorship and support to grow their startups and effect sustainable impact for cities. WeGO launches the
WeGO Smart Sustainable City
Projects Catalog
The WeGO Smart Sustainable City Projects Catalog is now officially live. The Catalog is an online database of best practices and includes details on project context, main features, technical details, statistics, impact assessment, budget and financing while highlighting some of the key challenges and lessons necessary to implement a successful project. Cities who are interested in a particular case study may reach out to WeGO to facilitate contact with an individual responsible for that project.  The Catalog can be accessed here.
We will be adding more cases continuously, so we encourage you to check back often. If your city or organization has a best practice that you feel deserves to be featured, please contact us at secretariat@we-gov.org to discuss its addition to the Catalog. 
Join the WeGO Thematic Clusters
WeGO is launching its Thematic Clusters, aimed at helping cities to exchange information and build tangible multi-stakeholder partnerships in a specific thematic area. Each cluster, centered around its theme, will bring together cities, private sector entities, nonprofit organizations, and academia to discuss specific projects, whether ongoing or completed. Participants will be able to meet for an in-person discussion in Korea, during the WeGO Smart City Week or during the WeGO Executive Committee Meeting in Quezon City, Philippines. Clusters already being formed include Smart Mobility, Living Labs, and Smart Governance just to name a few. 
City members are encouraged to submit their application here, including a description of their project, and companies interested in lending their expert guidance on chosen topics may register and describe their solutions here. Please contact alexandra@we-gov.org for any questions. ​

Evaluate your city against the United Nations Key Performance Indicators for Smart Sustainable Cities
WeGO encourages its members to measure their city's smartness through the United Nations Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Smart Sustainable Cities. The KPIs are a useful tool to measure a city's smart city goals and progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and serve as a guide for future growth and development. The KPIs are free for use and for more information, please contact the WeGO Secretariat.

WeGO holds its annual Smart Sustainable Cities Training Program in Seoul
March 18-25, 2018
Seoul, Korea
WeGO, in cooperation with the Seoul Human Resource Development Center (SHRDC), held its annual WeGO Smart Sustainable Cities Training Program in Seoul exclusively for WeGO members. The week-long program featured informative lectures on smart transportation, open innovation, AI, blockchain, big data, among others, by esteemed speakers from the government, academe, and private and public sectors.
Dr. Young-sook Nam is appointed Ambassador of Korea to Norway and Iceland
Dr. Young-sook Nam, who served as WeGO's Secretary General from January 2016, has left the WeGO Secretariat after being appointed as the Korean Ambassador to Norway and Iceland. 
Through Dr. Nam's tutelage, WeGO was able to diversify its programs, expand its membership, and establish more partnerships with renowned smart city institutions. WeGO expresses its utmost gratitude to Dr. Nam for her valuable service at WeGO and wishes her the best of luck in this new and exciting endeavor! 
WeGO welcomes new members
Tarakeshwor (Nepal) is WeGO's newest member, while Seoul-based firms Gabotech, Hancom, IGB & Company, NTSYS, SRPOST, and Sycros join WeGO as corporate members. WeGO is looking forward to working with Tarakeshwor and these companies in pursuing smart and sustainable development.
